Single worst paint

What is the worst paint you've ever used?

Mine is this guy.

I've tried it every way I can think of, but it's just terrible. The pigment is wildly inconsistent. The application sucks.

It's on it's way to the bin.

I've a few contenders in my old Game Color set - to be fair to Vallejo I think the case of paint had probably be sat around at the game store for a long time. Still some of them were so separated and thick they have proved impossible to get back to any reasonable consistency.

In the category of just crud was their orange - which is so rubbish even the label has rubbed off so I can't tell you exactly what it was called. However one advantage of the re-formulation of the range is the current "hot orange" is actually rather nice and perfectly capable of covering things evenly, my old one is just all over the place. Still won't totally forgive them for getting rid of a few favourite colours however!

I've had some woe with the first version of the Army Painter speed paints and having them reactivate under various circumstances, but to be fair to them I understand this is fixed in their v2 range.

I have the Game Colour set and found it to be fine, did have to get used to giving my bottles a good shake and have deployed mixing balls in my droppers to help out. Am more frustrated when the dropper spout splits decanting too much paint on the palette and lid. 😡
I have a set of their Model Metallics which used to annoy me too, again think this is mainly due to separating and failing to shake them for long enough…

Generally I have no issues with them, just the metallics in that set didn’t work as well as expected. I usually go for their air metal bottles now.

Do we count taste? Metallic paints taste awful ¬_¬;

That said, I have a problem with them white dropper lids.. they all snap worse then the old citadel ones from the 80s/90s. Maybe something to do with white plastic?

I recall the Citadel gold from the '80s being pretty poor. Too easy to go to the pot & come back with a brush full of nothing.

Haven't tried the Warcolours Nostalgia '88 gold yet. Hoping it is better.

Oh, just remembered. Citadel White Scar. I went through about 3 pots brought over the course of a year from two different shops where it was pretty much 'chewy' from day one, so I use a bottle from Moment Hobbies now.

3 pots of White Scar?!? Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me; fool me thrice, I am clearly just a GW sucka with no common sense.

It was atleast 2 cause I did wonder if the first was just a bad batch or bad storage in the shop.

in the end, was able to kinda use it for mixing

Citadel white scar is possibly the only paint I've genuinely thought was badly made.

As a rule I try to avoid army painter as I find their pigmentation and consistency to be wildly inconsistent, and they have a terrible tendency to separate. on top of that they're often just very watery and crap.
