Side tracked

I always imagined screamer killers being really dexterous and deadly. So I put my vision to work.

I imagine a hoard of rippers tearing toward the enemy and the screamer killer leaping over them like ‘hold my beer’…

Quite the original "lead tank" Citadel mini that came out didn't quite fit with some of the descriptive prose! I feel (and to be honest this is probably true of a lot of 2nd ed era stuff) the screamer killer is probably one of those models where nostalgia has now tipped it back into the quite liking category, before I was very much a nah. One to add to the change of heart thread? I assume this is a proxy model or a later one, I didn't really follow what GW published for the 'nids after the earliest bits.

Anyhow you've done a lovely job on that model both the additional sculpted bits and your paint job. The orange is very nicely done and (as expected) contrasts nicely with the purple. That certainly won't look out of place in the classic "red era" !
 
old sculpt? I know the great metal ones... and Don't know anything after that..

well, I say great.. they kinda try to do something I don't agree with.. Tyranids and Genestealers are two completely different races. I can show it and I will fight on this point! (when I get my Genestealer Coven in a battleworthy state)
 
I shaved down the limbs and positioned them with pins. I had to cut of its hooves to be resculped to reflect jumping.

I use resin copies of the original because I don’t have the mental fortitude to cut up an original metal mini. But it’s a scan of the original RT screamer Killer. I used milliput to sculpt the new joints and armour plates/hooves (see original post).

I like the dynamism of the sculpt.

The original sculpt works better if you understand that it is a dreadnought and the mouth is a gun and it has just opened fire.

By the moons of Ymgarl you should! But probably not in the painting & modelling section.
