RT40k - Port Imperiale...

Took a few photos of my RT background city, Port Imperiale. It's a lawless pirate haven on the mined-out former Imperium planet Jamakeer, housing all manner of miscreants...

The Old Main Drag...

Overview of the Port

A shot down the main street, with Tanglegene's Manufactorium in the distance.

And again. Droids and local workers can be seen going about their business.

Looking out from the roof of Lucky's Bar, over the market.

IMG_3702.jpg

A Slann trading delegation, attempting to get a good deal from the rather irate owner owner of Guns 'N' Ammo.

Alternate view.

Another view of the market, Lucky's Bar in the background.

IMG_3695.jpg

An angry customer remonstrates with Li H'Sen Chang, owner of Robo-Crap, regarding a faulty RoboButler.

And again, different angle.

IMG_3698.JPG

A higher view over the market.

IMG_3708.JPG

A delegation from the Jamakeer Mining Corporation heads over to check on their mine.

IMG_3705.jpg

The mine itself, permanently under heavy guard by JMC employees.

IMG_3704.jpg

The EVH Salvage Head office, with employees heading out on their lunch break.

The heavily guarded entrance gate.

IMG_3715.JPG

Renegade Mechanicus scientist, Tanglegenes, seen here on the balcony of his dilapidated Manufactorium building.

And just *who* might this shifty character be, heading into Lucky's Bar? Obviously not someone tempted by offers of cheap soup from a hooded food seller.

Enjoy! As usual, more on my blog in the sig!

Those pics with that background are absolutely evocative. 12 out of 10!! Best setting I see in a while, I love every bit of it.

The whole thing is spectacular. Good use of Rhino bits on the gates.

I did originally make the entire gates out of rhino hatches, but then realised i still needed them for some rhinos.

Absolutely fantastic, and a major accomplishment.

It's a long line of hard work, you know...painting one mini> finishing a squad/unit> finishing an army> painting scenery> putting together a whole board.

I salute you.

Brilliant work. There have been quite some fantastic 40k dioramas showcased across the web over the years, but this one strikes out for something else than battle, and does so splendidly. I just love how alive the whole place seems. All the details, from small shopkeepers to criminals, a big company, vehicles and xeno traders make for a neat end sum. I lift my hat to you, sir! Should've figured long before that one should've looked for civilian 40k dioramas in the Oldhammer community.

You might wish to share it over on DakkaDakka and other such 40k sites to let more marvel at your diorama and get inspired by it. Maybe carry the Rogue Trader torch that much further, or at least divert focus from the battlefield for a little while. Spread the good taste!

Also, is that fat guy in the last picture one of the Lotr Abrakhân Guards? Good choice of mini whether it is or not.

Heh, thank you! I really wanted to go for that Mos Eisley/Logan's World vibe with the pictures, so much of 40k (and wargaming in general) is 'Army A vs Army V in a featureless void', and i really try to push the narrative element in most of my models/scenery. I'm not really a member of any of the modern 40k forums, LAF is about as far as I go, and even then I mainly lurk! It'd look a bit crass just signing up to post stuff most people won't care about, but feel free to share away!

Well spotted, yes! He's my take on Abdul Goldberg, a minor character hidden away in the RT rulebook that i made for a group competition that Rick Priestley judged, and I won!
