RIP Joe Dever

Joe Dever, AD&D champion, wargamer, White Dwarf miniatures reviewer, author of the Lone Wolf gamebooks and creator of the world of Magnamund passed away yesterday after a long illness.

Whilst only buying a few Lone Wolf books back in the day, I spent many hours playing through the Lone Wolf gamebooks on Project Aon and came to appreciate the bold world he had created, and was heartened to see the many new forms the Lone Wolf saga had taken in recent years.

Thoughts are with his friends and family.

Yeah, saw this on FB. Sad news. Again, I only had the first few books, but I played them until they literally fell apart.

Must admit, I never knew he was still working on new books, i might track some of the newer ones down and replay 'em all.

Met him once or twice when GW were producing the Lone Wolf line. He was always happy for a chat and seemed a nice, down to earth sort of fellow with a fantastically creative imagination. I had heard he had not been well but didn't expect such sad news.

that is very sad. i had some of the Lone Wolf gamebooks long before I'd ever heard of White Dwarf or Games Workshop.
