[renegade scout] 7: prisoner transport

connie, karen and their guides have made it safely back to the dealers' splanglish town head quarters. impressed with their success against scabies punks the dealers have agreed to assist connie and karen in freeing the rest of the bonehead skins, along with deshane and jamaall. they have been informed that the prisoners are being transferred to another facility following a fight in the prison where they are currently housed. the dealers plan to ambush the truck transporting them from the prison.

set up
the constabulary convoy has come to a halt upon finding the road blocked around a chicane. the dealers have just driven, and abandoned, a lorry across the road behind the convoy, preventing its retreat. constable bacon and special constable knuckles (unity grunt profiles with enforcer special rules) are in the lead vehicle with automated constable AB-8575 (cyber enforcer) in the rear flatbed, they are considered a single squad. constable ham and special constable kane (another squad) are in the truck with the prisoners in the back. constable pork and special constable johnson are in the rear vehicle with automated constable UT-4885 on the flatbed, they are also considered a single squad.
the dealers utility walker is deployed at the front, driver’s side of the convoy. squad 2 (using colonial militia rules) is also on the driver’s side of the convoy between the truck and rear vehicle. squad 1 (using zealots rules) is on the other side of the road level with the rear vehicle. connie and karen are also on this side, level with the truck; they are each treated as a squad in their own right.
as this is an ambush the bonehead skins / dealers get +2 to their initial priority roll.



turn1
the bonehead skins / dealers won priority.

dealer squad 2 moved cautiously towards the wrecked car and sheltered.
constable bacon’s squad disembarked from their vehicle.
dealer squad 1 moved cautiously towards the rear vehicle.
constable pork’s squad disembarked from their vehicle.
the utility walker moved around the tree to get a better line of sight on special constable knuckles.
constable ham’s squad disembarked from their vehicle.
connie moved cautiously toward the truck.
karen moved cautiously toward the truck.

squad 1 fired their singl;-shot launcher at automated constable UT-4885 but missed, then the auto-slugger with all shots missing, then three slug rifles: one hit but failed to do damage.
automated constable UT-4885 launched a pepper grenade at the auto-slugger and hit enveloping him and two riflemen in the cloud and blocking line of sight. two dealers passed their defence rolls, so only one was forced to retreat 4” out of the cloud.
constable pork’s line of sight was now blocked, so he could not fire.
the utility walker fired it's auto-cannon at special constable knuckles, but missed.
automated constable AB-8575 fired it's laser pistol and special constable knuckles his slug pistol at the utility walker but both missed.
connie fired her slug pistols at constable ham and hit twice, damaging once, but his armour saved him.
constable ham returned fire with his slug pistol, hitting but failing to damage.
karen fired her scrap rifle at constable ham, hitting and causing damage, but his armour saved him again.

That ended the turn.



turn 2
the constabulary had priority.

the pepper cloud remained in place.

constable pork moved cautiously alongside automated constable UT-4885, special constable johnson moved to maintain coherency with a firing position behind their vehicle.
squad 1 moved cautiously to refocus their efforts on the truck.
automated constable AB-8575 moved cautiously towards the utility walker, constable bacon hopped onto the flatbed to maintain coherency.
squad 2 moved cautiously to form a firing line behind the wrecked car.
constable ham moved to take cover behind the truck, special constable kane moved towards him to maintain coherency.
karen moved cautiously to take cover behind a tree.
connie moved to put the truck between her and constable ham.

constable ham took a shot with his slug pistol at squad 1, but missed.
the one member of squad 1 with line of sight took a slug rifle shot at Constable Ham, hit and caused damage, but constable ham’s armour saved him.
constable bacon fired his slug pistol at the utility walker, hit, damaged and penetrated it's armour for one wound. automated constable AB-8575 fired its laser pistol at the utility walker, but missed.
the utility walker returned fire at the automated constable, hit and caused three damage, but all were blocked by armour.
squad 2 took four slug rifle shots at constable ham’s squad but all missed.
karen fired her scrap rifle at constable ham but missed.
connie fired both slug pistols at constable bacon, hit and wounded with one, but his armour saved him.

special constable kane into base-to-base contact with squad 1 to support his squad-mate.
connie moved cautiously to the front the truck.
constable bacon’s squad continued to cautiously move towards the utility walker.
karen remained in place.
constable pork’s squad moved cautiously to support constable ham’s squad.
squad 2 remained in place.

squad 2 fired five slug rifles at constable pork's squad, hitting with three, taking special constable kane out of action, but failing to wound automated constable UT-4885.
automated constable UT-4885 launched a pepper grenade into the middle of squad 2. three members of the squad were caught in the blast, failed their defence rolls and were forced back 4”.
the utility walker fired at automated constable AB-8575, hit but failed to cause damage.
automated constable AB-8575 fired its laser pistol at the utility walker, hit and wounded, but the walker’s armour saved it.
karen fired her scrap rifle at constable bacon, hit but failed to cause damage.
connie fired her slug pistols at constable bacon, hit twice but failed to damage.

squad 1 had two figures in melee, both missed their attacks. special constable kane missed his attack, but constable ham took his opponent out of action.

turn 4
priority rotates to the constabulary.

both pepper clouds remained in place.

constable pork’s squad moved towards the truck.
squad 2 moved to maintain coherency, whilst travelling around the hill towards the rear vehicle.
constable bacon’s squad moved up to take cover behind the road block.
connie got into the truck cab.
constable ham’s squad stayed in melee.
karen moved in front of the truck.
the utility walker moved towards the hill, out of line of sight of automated constable AB-8575.
squad one charged constable ham’s squad so that they had a 2:1 advantage in both melees.

special constable knuckles fired his slug pistol at the utility walker but missed.
karen fired at constable bacon, hit, wounded and penetrated his armour to take him out of action.
no-one else on the constabulary side could fire.
the utility walker fired at special constable knuckles, but missed.

squad 1 engaged in melee, getting three hits of which one caused damage, taking special constable kane out of action.
constable ham failed to hit.

connie unlocked the doors to the back of the truck ending the turn.



turn 5
priority returned to the bonehead skins and dealers.

the first pepper cloud remained in place, the second moved 6” towards the truck (now marked with a green d20).

the prisoners pushed open the trick doors, but couldn’t disembark past the melee, so charged.
constable pork charged into squad 1.
squad 2 ran around the hill.
automated constable AB-8575 moved to re-establish line of sight on the utility walker, and special constable knuckles moved to retain coherency.
connie disembarked from the truck.
karen advanced to take cover behind the rear of the lead vehicle.
the Utility Walker moved back behind the tree to regain cover.

karen fired her scrap rifle at special constable knuckles, but missed.
constable bacon’s squad fired at the utility walker, automated constable AB-8575 missed, special constable knuckles hit but failed to wound.
the utility walker returned fire at automated constable AB-8575, hit, wounded and penetrated it’s armour for three wounds, taking it out of action.
automated constable UT-4885 did not have line of sight on anyone not engaged in melee.
connie fired her slug pistols at special constable knuckles, but missed due to cover.

the prisoner’s fight, only yossa hits, but he does damage and beats constable ham’s armour taking him out of action.
constable pork engages in melee, but misses. his opponent (from squad 1) fights back and also misses.

priority is with the constabulary again.

both pepper clouds remained in place.

special constable knuckles didn’t like the odds he suddenly found himself facing, and so ran to take cover behind the lead vehicle.
karen hopped onto the flatbed to regain line of sight on him.
constable pork is engaged in melee, and automated constable UT-4885 elected to remain in place.
the remainder of squad 1 charged constable pork.
squad 1 moved cautiously to take up a firing line behind the trees.
the utility walker moved cautiously to try and get line of sight on automated constable UT-4885.
connie moved cautiously towards the lead vehicle to try and get line of sight on special constable knuckles.

special constable knuckles fired his slug pistol at karen but missed.
karen returned fire, hit but failed to cause damage.
automated constable UT-4885 launched a pepper grenade towards the middle of squad 2, but it got entangle in the vegetation.
the utility walker fired its auto-cannon at automated constable UT-4885, hitting, wounding twice and getting one point of damage past it’s armour.
squad 2 fired five slug rifles at automated constable UT-4885, with two hits causing one wound but failing to penetrate it’s armour.
connie shot through the lead vehicle’s cab at special constable knuckles, but failed to hit him.

squad 1 assaulted constable pork, hitting four times, causing three damage, and getting one through his armour to take him out of action.

priority returns to the bonehead skins and dealers.

the pepper clouds remained in place.

the utility walker moves cautiously up to the wrecked car.
automated constable UT-4885 moves cautiously towards squad 2, out of line of sight of the utility walker.
squad 1 foolishly charge automated constable UT-4885, getting three members into melee.
special constable knuckles moves cautiously around the hill behind him.
connie moves to the front of the lead vehicle to regain line of sight on special constable knuckles.
karen remains where she is.
unable to shoot at automated constable UT-4885 now that it’s in melee, the two blade-wielding members of squad 2 also charge, the others moving to retain coherency.
yossa and the other (unarmed) bonehead skins prisoners move cautiously towards connie and karen.
the dealer prisoners move cautiously towards squad 1.

connie fires both slug pistols at special constable knuckles, hitting and wounding once to take him out of action.

squad 2 assaults automated constable UT-4885, hitting and wounding once, but not penetrating its armour. automated constable UT-4885 responds with it’s laser pistol, but misses. squad 1 attacks, missing all their strikes.

the round ends.



turn 8
priority is with automated constable UT-4885, for what it’s worth.

the utility walker continues its move to a shooting position, should it be required.
yossa’s bonehead skins regroup, and there is much back slapping.
the dealer prisoners tuck in behind squad 1.

automated constable UT-4885 attacks a member of squad 2, but misses. squad 2 respond but miss. squad 1 gets two hits, but neither cause damage.

the turn ends.

turns 9-11
there is inconclusive melee until finally Squad 1 gets a wounding hit past Automated Sonstable UT-4885’s armour taking it out of action.

Yosser’s Bonehead skins and the dealers are then able to make good their escape. their one casualty survives, i don’t bother rolling for the Constabulary, since they will be back (though probably not in this campaign).
