Realms of Chaos sculpting project

Hello all!
Reading throught the old Realms of Chaos books , I realize there's a lot of amazing art portraying demons and characters never turned into a miniature.
I would really like to sculpt a selection of miniatures inspired on them in the future , so I need two things from you ;

First) To know if its something you can be interested on getting your hands on

Second) In case the the answer was YES please post a selection of 4 or 5 pics (max per user) of those you wanna see done into a metal miniature!

If there's enough interest ,once we have all people subgested art, we can make a public votation to select the final pics wich qualify to be done into miniatures.

What do you think? I'm totally IN , so here are mines to start with

Awesome, I'm definitely in for n°1, 2 or 5. with 5 being my absolute favorite, I'll see if there's any more to be found. Thanks for launching such a great project !

Well obviously yes, as to what, I narrowed it down to 5 which was hard as there are so many great pics in those books, but here are some of my my favourites

Not for me. For me the Realm of Chaos artwork says "this kind of thing" rather than "exactly this", if that makes sense?

Also just a word of caution on the legal front. I haven't followed Chapterhouse in detail, but making models based directly on GW art seems like a big risk. Of course ,your interpretation of the concept is free game :)

My favourite is already up here - the nurgle champion (#2 in your pics Diego). Can I humbly suggest this nice(!) looking fellow:

Thanks for advise Zhu , as you say it will be just inspired by the art , not a total recreation, I'm sure I can't do that even if I want :)

does it make any difference if the art is this old?

Nope. Have to be pre-1917 (in the USA, anyway) give it take a year.

yeah,I know they still, own it, but would they give a crap?

old obscure ROC is far from modern marine intellectual property.

You asked if it made a difference, not if they would litigate it ;)

That said, some of the old 40k artwork was brought up in the Chapterhouse case.

As long as you are not doing a 100% exact copy is very hard , to not say impossible, to blame anyone of a copyright infringment.
How many "demons" are drawed out there? Imagine someone claiming he created the first one with horns and tail and oppening a claim to all the other drawers ...

To keep it simple , inspired , some resemblance YES , a total copy , definetly not. ;)

Anyway , I'm not seeing enough interest to accomplish such a project, just a few post will not cover the expection quote needed :(

Maybe ask again in the new year, or early spring? IME this time of year peoples heads don't really seem to be in hobby-mode. You might get more take-up then.

I think so too, it is a good project, right now people are just getting their heads off of the gravy and chocolate and cakes and alcohol mountain that's all, no big activity hobby wise, anywhere ;)
Just ask again in a couple of weeks and you shall see some hearts beating again!

You already know I'm buying almost anything you do!
Being myself a legal guy (though not directly related to IP issues on a regular basis) I can say that, as long as you don't strictly copy the models, you won't get any problems. As you said, mere resemblances or sculpting styles are near impossible to prove themselves wrong for these purposes. Don't worry for that matter.
