Realms of Chaos bases size?

Its a bit of a grey area for warbands. One of tge most common results on the followers chart in slaves to Darkness is 2d6 humans. as basic humans, according to the bestiary in the 3rd edition rulebook they go on 20 mm. But if you look at some of the sample warbands featured in the centre pages you can see that they just did whatever they felt like. In the warband of Caramon the rabid, the humans are on 20mm bases, the same as the dwarves. But across the page in the warband of yrlman the loose, the humans are on 25mm bases, same as the beastmen. This is useful because if you include them in a larger army the beastmen and humans could be incorporated into a single unit. and looking up at the warband of Gurni Ironarm, you have basic level minotaurs on 40mm bases instead of 25 like it says in warhammer armies. I think at the end of the day the basing is a mixture of practicality of combining small units and simply whatever looks best.

I'm glad you bought this up, as I've had exactly the same thoughts recently, particularly with regards to minotaurs and human warband members.
Minotaurs are meant to be 25mm bases according to Warhammer Fantasy Battles, but in Warhammer Armies they are clearly on 40mm bases in the army shots. Also, have you ever tried fitting one actually on a 25mm base and ranking them up? Mine certainly need their personal space and will end up on 40mm bases.
With regards humans, they are meant to be on 20mm, but you may wish to put them on 25mm bases instead to be able to use them as Thugs in standard Chaos armies at a later date. As weismonsters mentioned, the interpretation of the basing rules seems to be at the painter's discretion.
For instance, I've put my Dwarf hero on a 25mm base in order to accommodate his freshly mutated wings.
