Realm of Chaos Warband advice

Hello everyone

I would appreciate your advice. I have just rolled a Khorne warband for ROC with a view to using at next oldhammer day and my character has rolled the Siamese twin attribute. I am using the orlygg system for rolling your war band and I can't figure out if this attribute is considered positive or negative as per orlygg`s system? Your help is appreciated.

Also I rolled for my retinue, mercenaries, from the lost and damned retinue list and rolled that they are led by a level 25 character. Is this to power gamey to have him in my war band as well as a level 15 champion?

Your help and advice is welcome.

I would probably drop the level 25 character, it is a bit much, or do what paul (not sure his name on here?!) did in the last game, which is make him stupid! SO you have to test each turn to use him. Or drop him to a 15 level character!

As for siamese twin, Id do your own call on that. DO you get enthused by the idea of doing the conversion work? If so, do it!

I think your right, level 25 character is way to hard so thought about dropping him to level 5 or 10. I do like the idea of making him stupid.

As for conversion work, whilst I fancy doing it I am not sure as I don't want to ruin two classic figures. Might use two alternative stand in figures instead and have a bash and see what monstrosity I can create.

Level 25 characters are somewhat over the top - I've found that level 10 seems pretty optimum, or 15 if you want to make him/her a real brute.

Level 5 doesn't tend to quite cut it as the single wound and no toughness increase makes them still very squishy.

The chaos gods would be most displeased by any rejection of their gifts.

Take the level 25, there are plenty of other balancing factors. I had a level 15 become half vampire, seen daemon blades that would rip a level 25 apart or wizards that could raise an army of undead. Part of the joy of chaos warbands is how unequal they are. Your level 25 may end up a useless spawn for all you know.

On the other hand, even Orlygg recommended avoiding dragons. ;)

Having read the last couple of responses, I'm inclined to say that I spoke rashly. Just do what you feel will be fun. If you are concerned that your hero will be too powerful (or not powerful enough, in case you rolled a character with basic racial stats) and it won't be fun for yourself and/or your opponent then give your dice rolls a tweak.

The system is what you make of it, so just go with what makes you happy. :)

Even Orlygg? Much as I love him and his blog and respect his opinion I believe he has had considerably fewer actual games of third and specifically RoC than many of us on here. Point being I guess, as I'm sure he'd admit himself, he ain't no higher authority on these matters just another third ed fan like the rest of us. Not that he haunts the forums anymore anyway.

If you find it so powerful you wouldn't enjoy it yourself re-roll it but if you get the same or even more powerful the gods are telling you something.
