WFB3 Realm of Chaos TLATD - Beastman Warband Retinue question

Warhammer Fantasy Battle 3rd Edition
Love a good ROC campaign. Out of interest, how do people play it terns of unit movement/ cohesion? It felt silly having units of eg 3 Dark Elves or 2 Chaos Dwarfs (less of an issue with Beastmen as you tend to get more of them) moving a la WFB, so we house ruled to allow units of up to 10 unit strength to move as skirmishers and all fight in combat if they made contact (sort of Saga-like), with only units of 10> US having to go rank and flank - works well enough in warband on warband action..

Mostly just follow the main cohesion rules atm, havent really looked to far into the skirmish rules. though we are a bit looser on ingame action unit splits. For example in the last game we played we had models jumping on to wagons to steal them from dwarves, but only some would get on and the rest would be left behind. Or if there are models with differing movement stats we might choose to leave them behind or separate them off at the setup step. One of my beastmen and my champ have both lost a leg so i just put them together that game, thinking of turning that beastman it to a makeshift army banner bearer as i just rolled up a Bane Banner to add to the warband.
