Question about pre-slotta

They are the same scale, but GW scale have never been consistent so you can get a pre-slotta model who is much bigger than a slotta one...
 
In general Citadel figures have got bigger over time. So early figures (ie pre slotta) will in general be smaller than a modern figure. Some pre slotta got re-issued with slotta bases so at the transition time it is not too noticeable.

Eg if you look at the original pre slotta Chaos warriors and compare them to later slotta ones there is a definite increase in size. In my opinion you can't really mix them in a unit and have it look right.
 
Preslotta isn't uniform, just as post slotta isn't. The earlier Fiend Factory era stuff is more like true 25mm; wheras the 1984 date stamped stuff was 28mm and stockier. The ranges that saw the transition - hobgoblins, chaos beastmen, half orcs, lizardmen etc rank up as they are essentially the same miniatures, but don't bear much relation to the >32mm stuff in the early 90's.

If you're talking 1984-1987 pre / post slotta then head to foot on average they are within a mm in terms of scale.
 
Pre-slotta monsters are also smaller than they should be. The dark elf cold one riders are a good example.
