Post: Pre-slotta Halflings
Once upon a time in the 1980s, I had a halfling bugler. He was a fun little chap and I like him very much. He was an old model and one of those that at the time people didn’t like because they were “pre-slotta”.
Anyway, I somehow lost this figure. Did I? Maybe I traded it for something…I don’t know, but I no longer had it. The last I saw of my 80’s painted figures was that they were all packed into a Roses tin. each carefully wrapped in bog-roll.
24 years went by until I felt the need to re-acquire the tin from my parent’s house and see what was inside. 96% of the figures were there a few were not. Quite frankly
“What happened to that tiny metal toy you moved off your lounge shelf – 24 years ago, mum? It wasn’t even a question worth asking.
So, I looked on eBay for another and whilst it was easy to locate the halflings of that era. The particular one I wanted was too dear for my tightarse self. Anyway, I bided my time till I got one for a reasonable price…at least 2 years, lol. I have managed to acquire him and another similar chap and get them painted up. I’ve a few more somewhere in the pile of shame, but that my friends, is another topic.
So there you go. Two halflings. super easy to paint. Nothing much to say about them really unless anyone has questions. I’m just so pleased to have them in my cabinets. I’m progressing nicely now with restoring the missing figures….just a couple to get.
