Points and profiles from 2nd to 3rd editions

Hello,

I'm looking at Harboths, Rugluds and Eeza Ugezod's Mothercrushers and Death Commandos and can locate profiles and points values but they appear to be 2nd edition. Ideally I would like to convert the stats to 3rd edition so that I know I'm playing and paying fair and with some WFB historical flare. The stats for the 2nd edition characters are unique in that they span level 15 to 25 hero across the profiles or even above them which one may expect for a special character model e.g.

Eeza WS6, BS6, S5, T5

compared to black orc 15 hero WS6, BS4, S5, T5

or black orc 25 hero WS7, BS5, S5, T5.

Does anyone have the stats or point values as I want to use the characters at BOYL 17?

Although most of it is based on 2nd edition, unfortunately 3rd Editions PV system is broken. It tries to model both battlefield effectiveness and fantasy economics at the same time, whilst accounting for special rules in some areas and not others, so ends up with values that don't relate to anything at all. Unlike 2nd edition, 3rd ed PV system lacks detail, so doesn't allow for much subtlety or flexibility when it comes to characters.

Basically if you're stuck using 3rd, just stat up using 3rd. (Eeza is prolly Level 20 Black Orc Hero), although if you want a reasonable measure of battlefield effectiveness, use 2nd.

Zhu, sounds like heresy!

Thanks for your notes I'll count the characters as mid ranking level hero's.

Did you notice that almost every 3rd edition army has shock elites except orcs and undead? Orcs are limited to +1 snortas and big uns whereas the majority of races have +2 and elves and dwarves +4. Why is that?

You'll have to ask Bryan at BOYL :)

I'd guess there are a couple of answers to this though - thematically that orc society isn't one that produces elites, and from a more meta point of view that orcs get "other stuff" instead of elites. To expand on the first point orcish society is very dog-eat-dog (even skaven are more orderly) so you tend to get individual heros / bosses rather than a unit of elites. And to expand on the second point black orcs are effectively +3 elites (except with Leadership instead of Initiative). One of the things I love about orcs is the variety, I'm much happier browsing through their army list than say dwarves (which offers you dwarves and some other dwarves...).

The Oldhammer answer of course is that orcs do have shock elites if you want them and can make a good story out of it (There are no army lists except your own).
