Phrodos WIP (Wood Elves In Progress)

Whilst on a long nightshift in the middle of moving house I was hit with an urge to paint something other than walls. Then after a little internet trawling I hit on the idea of a narrative campaign using ravening hordes and the skirmish rules. Not exactly oldhammer but none seems to be into round here and I knew I was going to have to explain it to my one gaming buddy, so wanted to keep it as simple as possible.

So I gathered up some of my lead and wrote up a little warband who shall be the antagonists of a sort in the campaign. I have a good few weeks to get them painted before he returns from uni.

I will go into more detail as I go along but here is the start of Crannbod and his Elvish Warband.

Crannbod

His Glade Guard (with spears and champion)

Wardancers

Dryads

(Apologies for phone pics but my camera is buried in a box somewhere)

I do quite like the Glade Guard models with spears and I'll be interested to see how this thread progresses. Who will be the rivals for the wood elves?

Looks like only one spear-elf is to me -- the one with the facemask was released holding a javelin.

Little bit of an update some more painting done on the elves. I still haven't found my camera so hope some more phone pics will do.
The elves are actually all Jes Goodwin Wardancers (all found in the 1991 catalog) even the javelin chap with the hood, although I did add a plastic spear head to bring him a little more in line with the rest of the unit.

Crannbod his grand stripy trouseredness

The Glade Guard

The Dryads

The Wardancers

I have managed to assemble Fjord Fjalkus and his Dwarven guards and hope to pop a picture up soon, although some will need their paint stripped first.
Cheers for all the feedback and interest so far too!

Well I know I haven't updated this in an age but real life has been interfering somewhat. I have been painting and sculpting like a fiend though. The dwarves have been put on hold as I discovered a box of old monopose goblins and some green skin lead. After a bit of work I have nearly 500points of them finished (sans a few fanatics).
I even sculpted a few myconids/mushroom trolls.

The evil Grippfangs horde

The evil Grippfang himself (mounted on his great weapon Fred)

The Stoned Trolls

Crannbod and his Elves have not been ignored but have been reinforced with an odd mix of lead. Some modern Wardancers have been coopted into the Glade guard and the Wardancers unit. Some Mordheim shadow warriors have become wood elf archers. The dryads have some reeinforcements, along with some of my older woodelf models as scouts and an old tree man. Many of them need stripped and repainted but they have been rescued from the depths of the boxes they have been in for years.

The reinforced gladeguard and Wardancers, still a good bit of work to get them finished though.

The work in progress unit of archers with the recently draughted shadow warriors posing as denizens of the forest.

The dryads with their unpainted reinforcements and a very wip treeman hiding behind.

Finally the scouts. Two way watchers and two converted shadow warriors led by a not quite so elven forest dweller (I couldn't resist including that singing twerp Tom Bombadil from the current Lott range when I found him in the box)

My gaming buddy is still not back from uni yet so the back story for the campaign and its characters in still in flux. Hopefully I will get more updates and decent pictures soon!
