Penkridge Wargaming Sale

I've just got back from the Penkridge Wargaming Sale, in Penkridge, Staffordshire.
It's really popular with about 100 people queuing down the road before opening. However, there was very little for the Oldhammer fan, mostly a few books and a couple of stands with scenery.

The vast majority of stalls were selling 40k plastics, with some Old World and Age of Sigmar. No one had any old school 1980's goodies with them.

I did see an old citadel book for £50 that the cover art was the same as that piece that was up for sale recently (Sorry for vague description) but that'd probably be the Oldhammer highlight.

I made a couple of contacts who may have stuff in their shops (one I think I've bought from before on ebay), but it was too crowded to really chat to many. Despite the crowding, everyone was friendly and good natured.

I probably won't be driving an hour to go again though.

The people I spoke to said there wasn't the demand for Oldhammer models at shows.

There was some nice 3d printed terrain, but not of any better quality than I could do myself. And there was some nice hand made terrain too, but I've not got anywhere to store it at the moment and I kind of want to make anything else I need myself, just for the pleasure of building it, more than anything else. And it was too crowded to get any pleasure from just mooching and looking and talking. No one was aggy or anything, it was just too full. Probably much better later on when it calms down a bit.

I thought these trees were nice for £2.50 each. Could have got 10 for £20, but didn't need that many.

The closest I found to Oldhammer were some highland miniatures, but the scale was well off. I had a root through the 'villagers' box to see if there was a potentially suitable wife for the Count that someone was looking for, but again, any potential candidates were looking too small.

That is a shame, I thought Penkridge had a reputation for having good old stuff. Maybe with ebay prices and the flood of collectors in recent years all the nice toys have been settled in their forever homes now.

The stall holders I managed to talk to either had none or hadn't brought it with them. There may well have been some more tucked away on other stalls, and there may have been more interesting books, but it was too crowded to want to mooch around much more. Apparently they're looking at another bigger venue for the next one.
