Paint it forward

Jamie Loft came up with a cracking idea (in one of the oldhammer groups on Facebook)

Jamie's Idea:

"I was thinking about giving miniatures away for free.
No not all of them.
More like a chain letter I will offer to post a mini to the first person to say 'I'll paint that'.
Two conditions
First within 7 days of receiving the mini you have to post a picture of it painted
Second the following Friday you have to give away a miniature
The mini must be metal and human scale. It can be a modern foundry or old GW.
Limited to U.K. To keep postage down?
So who is up for Free Mini Fridays?"

Brilliant!

I lked this idea so much I thought I would bring it here.
So next Friday I will post a mini here.
I will send it to the first person to say "I'll paint that"
Get it painted ... post a picture and then post a picture of the oldhammer mini you want to pass on.

I was thinking of taking a rather more oldhammer approach to the whole thing ... just saying when you get around to it.
But I ssuspect what will happen is hat a mini will move from my painting pile to someone elses and that will be the end of it.

It is within seven days of recieving it.... means there is a weekend in there somewhere.

Interesting, but are we only going to have one mini at a time being passed around, or can we have a few? ;)

Brilliant initiative.
The deadline is essential though, we had a group project like that some time ago where one would post pics of unpainted models to send to those able to finish them. we did manage to stall because of the lack of deadlines (I'm one of the guilty ones).

I might throw a few at this ... to get us going.

If everyone who got a free mini gave two away .... it could become huge.

Harry did just give me a mini... not sure if I can paint him in 7 days but willing to give it a go as my paints are currently out.

OK, I looked through one of my boxes of un-painted stuff and took out a few bits & pieces out to post in this subject and now I can't find them, so I've just looked over my painting tray and found the following (accumulated from bulk purchases) I classify this stuff as detritus, I've been surprised by how much these things come into their own with a little TLC.

so, take a look at the stuff below and if you fancy having crack at anything send me a pm, and post a note here, so folks know it's gone.

on a separate note - UK only please, just to save my pocket, thanks in advance

Paul //// thank the gods for you ... I forgot all about this ... as usual another great plan scuppered when real life slaps you around a bit.

Thanks for posting all those ... i sahll gp search some stuff out now to post up.

Is everything in that first photo up for grabs? ...or is that the stuff you have painted to keep?
If yes you have a mini there I have been looking for ...
On the painting board ,,,, 5th mini from th left ... mad looking fella with his leg up and a club in his hand ....."I'll paint that!"

Keen to get involved in this! I won't take any of those as I have a busy few weeks, but maybe in a couple of rotations time...

Sorry Harry, I posted that picture to show what could be achieved with stuff I described has detritus, afraid that particular one's already been finished and added to the barbarian horde and attend BOYL 2016, but I may have another in the attic; if, I have - he's yours. 8-)

So, it's anything from the individual figures shown ladies & Gentlemen or anything that follows has I've been doing a bit more rummaging!

If you find another I will be most grateful.

Meanwhile sorry for the delay .... in true oldhammer style ... start as we mean to go on ... already the whole painting plan has gone to tits and we are behind schedue.

However .... here we go .... please find three minis I am more than happy to give to anyone who wants to get them painted ... as long as they paint apicture when they are done and offer up another mni for someone else to paint.

Remember all you have to do is say "I'll paint that" and its yours.

So what have i got for you?
A lovely old mini ... The best of the Asgiard Dwarves from the pre slotta days before Citadel even existed.
A Lovely Colin Dixon Miner Champion in much later, chunky, marauder, style.
.... and my challenge to you all ... the worst miniature ever sculpted in oldhammer history. If anyone can make this guy look good you are a talented painter indeed.

Oh I dunno, I've seen worse. ;) I shall consider this the start, ignore the fact that Harry gifted me some nice minis a whole week ago, pretend one has just been received and aim to have it done by next Monday... and then pass some more stuff on. :) Nice one chaps!

Paint if forward Friday...

Freebie from Harry painted up- can you guess where I'm going with this one?

I'll pop up some photos of stuff for grabs at the weekend.
