Orc and Goblin Army Build

This post will show the build of my new Oldhammer – Orc and Goblin army

This all started recently when I traded off some unwanted LOTR figures – and most of what is listed below is what I got in exchange – very happy with the outcome.

I will post progressive photos of the army as it develops – from collection to painting to hopefully a fully painted and playable army when finished – thinking 2000 - 3000 points when finished.

If anybody has any figures they would like to donate to assist complete the army that would be greatly appreciated – but in reality if you have figures that would suit – pm me – I have 15+ years of figures collected – from various brands and games systems - and I will post on the Private Sale/Trade page when I get organised .

Happy for ideas on what I should add – started a sort of “want list” at the bottom – thoughts on this too appreciated.

The Army so far

Night Goblins

28 Night Goblin Archers
9 Night Goblin Hand Weapons
7 Night Goblin Clubbers
7 Night Goblin Netters
7 Night Goblin Command – 2 Std, 2 Musc, 3Bosses

Total Night Goblins 58

2 Squig riders
2 Squig herders teams ( older two goblin joined ones)
6 Squigs

Forest Goblins
35 Forest Goblins Hand Weapons
9 Forest Goblins Hand Spear
8 Forest Goblins Hand Archers
8 Forest Goblins Command 4 Std, 2 Musc, 2 Bosses

Total Forest Goblins 52

Savage Orcs (the old Skinny ones)

5 x Savage Orc Boar Boys 3 spear, 1 Std, 1 Boss – do I need a musician ?

1 x Savage orc Shaman foot ( one with staff in both hands above head)
1 Savage Orc Archer ( very Lonely)
1 Savage Orc Spear ( also very Lonely)
1 Savage Orc Hand Weapon ( even more Lonely)

Orcs

3 x Orc Boys ( blister) - the 90’s ones

Grotfang Orc Warlord on Boar

Black Orcs

1 Black Orc 2 Hand Weapons – on a round base for SBH – but if he gets some mates will be rebased in a blink ;) – love the old style ones of these !

Warmanchines

2 x Orc Man-Mangler ( Rock lobber) - might trade one of for something of similar interest.

Snotlings

2 Bases of the little guys – do I need more ?

Snotling Pump wagon ( old version) – love this model – can I have a army of them ?

Trolls

2 x Rock Trolls ( need the one with the two handed weapon)

1 x River Troll (another lonely figure) – would trade for missing Rock Troll above

I also own but not sure if I should include

15 Big Uns ( Brian Nelson sculpts) includes a Drummer ( but no Std or Boss – have them – but based for another game (SBH) – if I include them and the other Big Uns that would need rebasing would be a unit of 24.

5 Boar Boys (the last metal ones) - as in I saw bits in a box and think that is what they would make up.

What I think I want

Forest Goblins on foot ( as many as I can get my greedy hands on )

Night Goblins – more base troops and some fanatics - thinking 2 units (what size?)

The old Black Orcs – unit 20-24 ?

Lots of Savage Orcs foot troops ( the ones I have are lonely) – more then one unit maybe ?

Grom the paunch

Azhag on Wyvern – would prefer the older orc boss/ wyvern (had him twice in the past) but have not even seen on ebay ( at a realistic price) for a while.

Giant (the clothed one) – have 2 of the later metal one - two plastic one and both Giants of Albion – but of course I want the one I do not have [Symbol]

What I know I can buy off a mate
Not cheap – but possibly a fair price for what they are.

Forest Goblin Spider riders – metal dudes about 24 of them – I know I want some but how many ?
Savage Orc Boar boys– 10 most with clubs - probably need some more of these too !

What I traded

The Snotling Pump Wagon has to be one of my favourite GW figures of all time

Hopefully by the end of the weekend we will have some finished painted figures to show.

Looking good so far!

Make me a little envious, as my gobbo army is almost entirely plastic, but I guess that's what makes the metals so much sweeter.

Good luck on your greenskin endeavour!

Thanks Bluey - I actually have a nearly complete Plastic Orc and Goblin Army - I started when the Skull Pass Box came out - and feeling guilty for neglecting them for their older Metal Cousins - I did practise on one of the unfinished Plastic River Trolls - to get the paint thing happening again :)

I have had a productive day - and should have some painted figures to show tomorrow.

I also did a deal and traded some dwarfs for these wolf riders ( without wolves :? ) - should have been 10 - but in taking the photo - realised one is the chariot archer.

Now do I chase up the standard plastic wolves - search for some old metal ones - or get some 40K fenris wolves - decisions :?:

Exciting stuff, I only bought into WHFB with Skull Pass myself and while sprinkled with old metals most of the rank and file of my Night Goblins are from the starter set/current box.
I'm sure they're out there, but I always found Forest Gobbos (besides the command) to be a bit like Hen's teeth...I'd definitely snap the 24 metal spider riders up.

I think you need more snotlings, I also think you could spread what you have out to 3 bases with 6 apiece...I must admit I'm a bit "special" but I have a hard time fitting any more than 6 onto a base

Going out to see a mates band play this afternoon - so no more painting for this weekend.

Hopefully next update will see the squig herder unit finished, together with some more of the night goblins.

Looking good!

Unfortunately, I lack the clubbers part of my 2 netters. I guess snotling clubbers might have to do for me. :|
