Oldschool Chaos

I usually post all my stuff here: http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?379733-Chaos-through-the-ages

This includes a lot of stuff, both new & old, but I thought I should introduce myself by showing some of my old-school stuff here since so many of you guys are inspirations for my own work!

Enjoy:

Converted standard bearer (banner otw):

Khorne guy:

More Khorne followers:

Harry wannabe:

Maybe not old-school but my favorite model to paint so far:

A thug:

& we need a Chaos Monster ofc:

All these are great...love the oldschool stuff...but I have to agree that your appreciation of the mounted figure shows through in the painting...that horse looks fantastic!

More please! ;)

Blue

The horse looks great but I am a big fan of the Hammere, especially his armour. How did you paint the armour on that mini?

Thank you for the nice comments!

@ Rob_S: The red was built using several red, I started out with black undercoat, Mechrite red basecoat, then used red gore & blood red to build a deep red, for the final red I used Ruby Red mixed with blood red & red ink, then matt varnish to get away the shine, sounds complicated but it´s really easy, just takes some time.

Thanks for the red recipe. I haven't looked into the new citadel paint range but may have to now.

What about the armour recipe on Harry the Hammerer? His bronze/goldish armour is great too!

@phreedh: Thank you!

@Rob_S: I´m amost ashamed of telling you considering how easy it is. I start with black Undercoat, use GW´s old Brazen Brass, then I do a 50/50 mix with Brass & Mithril Silver for Highlights. Afterwards I wash the entire armour with GW´s old Armour wash (Coat d'arms has it as well) & then you´re usually done, sometimes I go back & do another highlight with the 50/50 mix if I feel the armour is too dark.

thanks, I have a chas dwarf thats all armour and I need to mix it up some and will be given the bronze armour a go.

Very nice. I do however struggle with green base edges ... however oldhammer it may be.

@Harry: I´ve had my doubt over green base edges as well, been thinking about black edges instead, however since I started almost 20 years ago that was the norm & I´ve just continued doing it & I can´t be arsed repainting the edges of all my bases, so I just continue to do green edges to make the new stuff fit with the old stuff (& my gaming-table is green so fits that better as well).

@Rob_S: You´re welcome, looking forwards to see those evil stunties!

The Chaos Warrior got his standard attached now, it´s a bit big, but that doesn´t matter imo cause it looks so great!

Banner painted by a friend of mine so I can´t take credit, but I think he nailed the old-school look I was after!

I like the banner but it's a shame it covers the excellently painted mini. The forward hanging banner is an oldhammer stylistic choice, most banners are like this yeah?

I think they would have been better off unfurling (is the that the right word) behind the mini. I am lazy though and all my standard bearers don't have standards attached, so what do I know?

Finished my sorcerer yesterday, he will be my general in smaller games, despite this being mainly Khorne... I see this guy as some kind of inquisitor out to kill all the non-believers in the world!

@Rob: I might try to turn it around just a little to show the mini as well.

@ Subedai & Citadel collector: I agree, I think he nailed it in the end, he had some problems with how I wanted the rune & later on he wanted a green background but I asked for a yellow one since it felt more old-school, I think he totally nailed it after those changes.

Have a few new models painted, not much oldschool lately, thus the long time to update, but anyways here´s something for you.

First an old Giant spider, painted in an albino like scheme, should get some lose-ups of his back tbh, seems rather bland here:

& now, the character that will be the leader of my Vampire Counts/ Undead, a very special old man, he was once amongst the most feared men to walk the Earth, until the Battle of Ten-thousand skulls, while victorious, he did lose his mind. Making a pact with the Gods of Chaos themselves, he was restored to his old Power & is a feared Necromancer once more. While not strictly a Chaos follower, he is as touched by the Dark gods as much as my warriors are. I present to you, the Lichemaster!

Always great to see those lovely old Chaos minis, and a big banner always does the trick too.

Nice painting on the Lichemaster in particular.

Jygge! I was wondering when you'd crawl out of the woodwork again! :) Nice to see you back!

Nice additions, stellar job on the guy with the bat umbrella!
