Old Empire Knights

Padre

Lord
This is definitely an 'Oldhammer' post, I think.

Here is the just completed (yet to be based) new order of Morrite knights of Remas. The background will be something along the lines of knights of other orders vowing to serve Morr for their last years (and permitted to do so by their orders), and so they keep certain aspects of their old Orders' livery and crests, etc, but wear Reman colours and have Morrite heraldry on their shields (skulls, Morr's name or a raven's wing).

All 10

I undercoated with spray, and used a spray silver on the knights themselves. Then I went acrylic and shade paints. I have yet to varnish (I bought some GW spray varnish). All of this is still relatively new to me, despite 35+ years painting, as my past painting used enamels. The medium still seems really 'flaky' to me. It chips easily, covers strangely, and annoyingly comes out satin or gloss.

Here are the commander and standard bearer (Reman, Church of Morr standard yet to be attached) ...

Here is the second pair from (Blazing Sun?) order ...

Third pair (originally ??) ...

Fourth pair (originally ??) ...

I am aware that some of the pairs might actually be character figures rather than Empire orders of knights, but I am hazy about all of them except for the Blazing Sun ones (who are somewhat obvious).

nice. Commander has a nice shiny mustache. They do say silver hair is a crown of glory.

I think your commander is 'Kurt Helborg, Captain of the Reiksguard Knights', the Standard looks like the Knights Panther Standard. The First pair and fourth pair are normal members of the Knights Pather. Second pair are clearly blazing sun, so you are right there. the Third pair.. mm.. Ah, That's the Grand Master of the Knights Panther.

So.. alot of early 90s Perry brothers work. Can't see how there would be much complaint about that.

Oh yeah. I noticed the moustache, then forgot about it again.

TBH, I think I have been way, way too subtle with 'highlights' and so I might spruce up the blue and reds with lighter blue and red highlights when I do the moustache, bases and put a (paper) standard on.

The figures were all gifted in a box of old stuff, and so I used all that I could. Been playing since 1983 1st ed, but I had even earlier metal knights and 'ran with them' for a decade, and so never got any of these!

(I'll need all your ID info when/if these eventually appear in a video!)

Best Empire line of knights if you ask me. Lot of details. Always liked 4/5th edition Empire and how they were painted. Looking great!

Classics. I was looking for some old reiksguard knights on ebay for my new empire army, but the price was quite intimidating.
I love the metal paint. I don't suppose by any chance that's a humbrol 11 silver?

It is. Apart from an abortive attempt to use an airbrush with enamels in the mid 80s, and a few primer sprays in the last couple of years experimenting with acrylic, this is the only time I have spray painted anything!

BTW, I have never been interested in, or remotely knowledgeable about, old figure prices. I hope what I have done is not some sort of sacrilege!

Sacrilege would be not to paint them. Prices are random, that's one part of OOP that I don't like. I know OldHammer guys don't like to play too much by the rules  but finding box for 30 and for 150 GBP of same minis tells you that there are no rules with prices. About wondering how rich that silvers is.

sometimes the correect word is 'scalpers'. They buy or get something and more then some reasonable prices (which i've nothing against), they like to charge ALOT more because they know some one may pay. often they can sit on eBay for quite some time because it only takes a couple of sales to make profit. there is some amount of supply and demand but.. when you look at prices of some things.. that's clearly scalpers.
