Oh shit! What have I done moment.

Quite a few years ago now I was fortunate enough to pick up eight Jes Goodwin ogres on Ebay......incorrectly listed for about $40 AUS. In addition to these guys was an unknown (to me anyway) ogre. I had no idea who made it & to be perfectly honest, I didn't really care.....as far as i was concerned, I felt like I had just won the bargain of the century!

Anyway, once I got them in my hot little hands I tossed this other ogre in my bits draw & began work on my "proper" ogres.

It wasn't until two or three years later that I decided to use the unknown guy for a conversion. About a week after I had begun hacking into him I saw a pic of him on the net....turned out he was an early citadel FF Giant Troll!

http://www.solegends.com/citf/citff/citffpics.htm

Not sure if he was/is worth much, but the timing couldn't have been worse. He had sat in my draw for years, and I had not come across this mini "until" I started chopping him up.

Oh well, the damage had been done... no going back.

Has this error/fuckup ever happened to you guys? Or just me?

Oh yes, I totally empathise! I've done that A LOT. I've butchered a band of unreferenced squat pirates I traded in a hobby store (the survivor finished his life in the collection of someone here though, traded for a "shorty" ratling...) and I can't count how many Jes Goodwin champions I've mutilated (Nearly got all of them in doubles)...

Yeah I went through that kind of moment... The first miniature kit I ever bought was the 2nd edition of space crusade in a yard sell, for 3$!
I was 11 years old at the time, not only did I paint these guys with Testor paint, I then decided to convert all the scouts into hybrids for a genestealer cult, what a butchery!
And just to make matters worst, I traded the box, the rules and the game boards for a bunch of plastic tyranids.

That survivor now lives across the Atlantic Ocean, and with other squat pirates! Though I still need the one with the pirate hat, dang it, to complete the set.

Optimus, I will say that your conversion should not be regretted overly much, because it looks great.

Yeah, even though it's quite possibly a rare mini, it's still an awful sculpt!

You gelded the poor bugger!
Mine's is missing the end of his club, the wooden one that is.

Having grown up with the rebuild-able nature of Lego, very few of my old minis survived intact as I would constantly be kit-bashing kit-bashed minis. Basically all I have to show of my early forays into the hobby is a sizeable bits box full of mutilated and barely recognisable chunks.
I'd be kicking ten shades of sheiße out of my 11 year old self if I had time travelling abilities...

In 1998, I sold off my collection of every citadel chaos fantasy mini made between 1988 and 1991 because I was a broke student and had to pay the rent. In retrospect, I should have just sold bodily fluids.

I forgot to mention than the year I started the hibby, I was keen on electronics. How is that relevant? Well, I thought since multi-part models were made in lead, the best building option would be to weld the parts together. Let me just say it did NOT work at all. I still have remnants of these in the garage but I'm not sure yo want to see the pics, some Jes Goodwin chaos warriors and even a Great Unclean One were hurt in the process... :?

Oh And there also was that first mini I stripped with just a modelling knife... let's just say most of the textures were replaced by another kind of textures... :?

Ouch!!!

Don't worry- this ones not that rare. There are some inflated prices but he is ugly as a brick so gets valued low all the time- usually with a handful of other figures. The fiend is another one you see listed for huge amounts- ive got three of the blighters and nevwr paid much at all.

Years ago I inherited lots of Citadel villagers and townsfolk for free. I chopped them up and turned them either into zombies or 40k henchmen. I wasn't happy with what I did so I threw them away!

The worst thing I have done was sell about 9,000 pts of Epic orc's for £10!!!!!!! I had found them in my attic and had gamened for years and thought I wanted the tenner more. One year later I was back into gaming and realised the cost of the mistake I made.

Had a nice little battle set up today and I set my Chais army on the edge of the coffee table. This particular table opens up by sliding out. It was open. I had the army on it. The cat jumped off the sofa.

3,000 points including about a dozen flying stand went down when the side of the table flipped over.

pray for me...

When I bought my second citadel giant it had been welded together in places. It hadn't harmed the model, but the cleanup on it was a real b*tch.

I hope you guys mean soldered, and not welded.

And I feel for you mbh, I've had similar experiences - luckily I've always been a slow painter so I never had any big painted armies so most were bare metal.

Soldered ok,

Here is a "Oh shit, what has she done moment"

Yesterday I was looking for my "Slaves to Darkness" tome and couldn't get my hands on it. When I looked under the bed, I realised that my wife had used it under one of the bed's feet to wedge it...
Let's just say I was a bit disppointed in the choice of material...
