Not dead! <Orcs and Goblins WHFB army begins>

I'm sorry for the long absence, but adult life and some new-plastic AoS painting kept me away (and I really hated playing Spearhead, so I painted a whole ghoul force for nothing -tell me if you fancy see some pictures, but they're all new plastic and converted models-).

So I'm here to atone for my deeds in the form of a metal sacrifice: Today I'm starting painting a huge Orc and Goblin army for a friend. This will take years, but this is the first batch of regular and forest goblins. Being a hobby butterfly it's great to pick from a big buffet of lead models and paint them if I feel like it.

Rest assured all bases will be goblin green in the end.

What were you thinking?!? 🤔 😉
I have not played the game, what didn’t you enjoy?
The ghouls/Flesh-eater Courts models certainly have some very interesting designs that look fun to paint.

what didn’t you enjoy?
The cards. Is basically playing a turn sequence you've not learned yet being interrupted by MTG-instant spells at every action you declare. Also, lots of very similar abilities with lightly different wording must be declared in different steps, so I forgot /missed like half of my charge bonuses and all "add more models" mechanics. Also, hopping between objectives (fixed blobs on the tabletop) means no narrative at all. I didn't enjoy the experience, can't remember the last time that happened in a situation where models were involved.

so.. AoS is basically warhammer mixed with Battlemasters? yikes.. one or the other is fine but... mm
It was this format called Spearhead (the thing that was supposed to kill Warcry -not on my watch-). It's the way for GW to sell you al the kits that are covered in dust in their warehouse: Look! This 100€ box has 2 nice kits and 2 ugly ones, but you must use them all as a Spearhead force! Shiny rules!

warcry? erm.. I guess abit too modern for me..

sounds a bit like there 'cheap' games period after they got there first Major plastics (Mighty Warriors, Ultra Marines, Krunch, Tyrranid attack et al.)

More or less, but selling models for the big games in bigger numbers.
(Warcry was the most simple game, fun and customizable, made my whole group play again, so we're not going to abandon it even if GW kills it in order to sell us more Spearhead boxes -like the new CIties of Sigmar vs Eshin Skaven one).

BTW, the sun came out and I've been able to spray the models!

The rules are basic but they removed the good parts (like trolls hitting harder on infantry and things like that). Maybe I'm too negative here, but had no sense of control or purpose in the whole game.
