Necromunda - Orlocks

I have recently been setting up a Rogue Trader Campaign for my girlfriend and I and so have been expanding my Genestealer cult who will be taking on the role of the baddies. I am okay for hybrids and purestrains but I was a bit short in the way of appropriate brood brothers...

Luckily I had some old school Necromunda Orlocks to hand and these classic 'thugs' fitted perfectly the image that I wanted for the force!

I have painted up ten already, and am now starting work on the next ten (including some heavies!)

The added bonus is that this also gives me a battle ready gang for games of Necromunda... Winner!

There's a few more photos and a bit more detail on my blog at:

Sweet memories.
You have done them real justice, cool work.

It was such a great game, I'm hoping one day it might get a re-release like Space Hulk third edition! But probably not!

I'm glad you like them, I'm currently working through the next set of ten and developing a healthy hatred for painting large areas of exposed flesh!!

Good looking Necro mate, it'll never get a re-release though they tried in 2003 and found that because the rules were based on a undated rulesset (2nd ed 40k) and not a true stand alone game it was too far away from their current rules which no doubt 10 years later is even further away.

Have to fear though Necro is still really popurlur with many FB groups and Forums including new Living Rulebook (Much the same as Blood Bowl)

Great painting mate. I used some Orlocks in my 'stealer cult, too :)

I really meant it, this is perhaps the best example I've seen of making the plastic models blend in with the metals. They usually stand out something shocking, but these fit in really well.

Yeah I sort of know this if I'm honest but I sometimes I like to delude myself lol. To be fair to the 2003 version they did release it with a massive fanfare, then strangely withdraw almost all visible support within a few months so it was destined to fail (they did the same thing to Epic...weird business model!) im pleased to hear Necro is alive and kicking; I've been following the redemptionists on your blog with admiration and they were part of the reason I got my ass in gear and painted these guys!

That's a very nicely painted gang you got there.

Cheers guys, I'm pleased you like them. I have to say these guys are perfect for genestealer or chaos cultists that are still trying to maintain a façade of legitimacy. Don't get me wrong I like the Dark Vengeance cultists that were recently released, but I can't help but feel even the stupidest planetary government would spot something wrong with all those chaos stars and masks nailed to people's faces.

Cheers for noticing my efforts to blend the plastics in, they really are terrible sculpts that were clearly designed as gaming pieces as opposed to decent miniatures. I originally intended to use only the metal models (far superior)but I had so many of these plastic guys lying around it felt like a bit of a waste not to integrate them. The only real drama is going to be trying to work around their mono-pose nature!
