Yeah, so since 40 years have passed by is cancelled, there's no point in showing my Rogue Trader fanart journey either.
So, I'll start with 2021 instead.
To quote myself from 20210721:
Oh wait, I guess I'll keep the 2008 fanart from before advertisement junior college as an illustration of that point, since I don't have any from 2005-2007:
Cover of the notebook with fanarts.
Space Marine on a medieval world.
Meh.
I was a big fan of Night Lords. Around that time I also discovered Lord of the Night.
This page has calculations of monthly pay from the factory work. The daily pay was just 10GBP. Which was an insjustice, a crime. At work I was almost constantly thinking about how twisted, how unfair it is that my work, my lost time and suffering is being treated as so much worse than of my peers in UK. Humanity is a disgusting, wretched depraved species.
Some obvious 3rd ed influences.
So now lets move to my first proper Rogue Trader fanarts from 2021:
Imperial Army fighting Space Orks.
Imperial Army squad manning a trench.
I’m sort of fascinated by the early Army after buying the Book of Astronomican and seeing full page miniature ads.
Imperial Army in attack. Including a Guard squad heavy armour with bolt guns and a the units sole Landraider Hellfire.
Space Marine Death Squad infiltrating tunnels.
An Imperial Army soldier during defence of a town.
A Wh40k 1st ed fanart.
Imperial Army soldiers from a Guard squad during suppression of a rebellion.
Imperial Army soldiers in a slit trench.
So, I'll start with 2021 instead.
To quote myself from 20210721:
(like fanart wasn't directly about money but it was about practice to become a professional artist so it needed to go, since it was a byproduct of something people didn't want)Some Fanart - 2005-2007
I was tempted to do the deed and after a few hours I finally decided to do it.
I ended up deleting almost all art I poster after starting to seriously learn/practice drawing on 20190626, that is about 400 drawings.
So, I deleted 27 more drawings. Starting with stuff from 2015. Because that’s when I got really serious about online art career. That’s when I tried to promote my art to sell prints and later get donations. I sold some prints and got some donations but none of them were from my grimdark art. So, overall, directing my art towards the fandom was a waste of time.
One the other hand, drawing fanart, was is my main way of participation in the hobby community and expressing my interest in the game. My art block from hell is stopping me from sculpting/painting miniatures and also I have no money to buy 1st edition miniatures.
I was thinking about fanart and amateur art. About how I was drawing before it became all about getting acclaim and money. When it was still all about love of the subject. When it was all about me. Also, before I went to advertisement junior college because it was sort of a first step to becoming a professional artist.
