Mostly More Civilians for Moab III

I've been slowly working my way through the set of Spacelords Civilians and Ship's Crew. I thought I'd done them all until I realized I'd forgotten the doctor. So one set is done and the other is almost done. Almost. And of course there are a few friends there too.

In this first shot you can see the pilot with a civilian (in sandals no less! on a desert world?! with sand? wait . . .) accompanied by a new/old squat. The three are discussing plans with the Lady Colorado and Sir Stanley.

Next up we have the street "punk" from the Spacelords line. I love the little monkey he has on his arm. Such an interesting contrast beetween the tough exterior and the soft heart that loves his furry friend. And with him are a pair of little demons (perhaps they were supposed to be snots, but I went red not green this time) that seem to be having far too much fun showing what they have in back. Those two have been in the bottom of a box so long it's not even funny.

Of course local law tends to take an interest in such things. These fellows were the security detail from the ship's crew. I painted them up as Logan's Space Port Security. (Or the "Spaceport Dicks.")

Of course it's useful to see them in contrast to the regular local constabulary.

Last but not least: a hint of things to come. I think he's looking for a site for his new temple complex.

Should be interesting to see how the Broken Bottle Buddhists and Techno Trapists down the road will react to new neighbors shaking the residents dow . . . excuse me soliciting donations from the faithful. Of course the local governor might have a hard time swallowing the idea that he should let the bug brothers register as a part of the official Imperial Cult (the standard practice of religious organizations along the Tartarus Rim to keep the Terrans happy) so this could be quite interesting indeed.

You're making me envious every time you post these photos! My Spacelords civilians are largely still unpainted AND I have a severe lack of terrain to show them off in.

The punk is my favourite - cracking job!

Well, there's solutions to both and I know you paint and sculpt well as I've admired the crap out of your work on this forum and elsewhere. I know it's intimidating. There's a dozen projects I'm still scaring myself out of starting. Tell you what, I have plans for a Buddhist temple. (The Broken Bottle Buddhists. There's an actual temple in Da Lat, Chua Linh Phuoc, sometimes nicknamed the "glass bottle temple" as there's a large dragon sculpture there reputedly made from fragments of beer bottles. I figure that's the father temple for the Broken Bottle Buddhist sect, which doubtless involve lots of beer, more than a few blinking lights, and probably some martial arts.) You want to pick a terrain project to pair off against a small frontier temple?

That's a great idea. I have plans to make a sort of scenic backdrop for my light box - this would be the perfect motivation to actually get some progress made on it. I've got a couple of other things to get out of the way first - how about both working on them in April?

^Axiom,

April should be perfect. Sounds like a good plan.

^Phreedh,

Thank you. I'm pretty happy with the punk. With all of 'em really, but from this last batch the punk in particular.

Thank you Suber. Thank you Cap'n Smryk. I confess, I do try to pimp the miniatures I like to the extent that I can. I figure if they sell better there will be more of them out there for ME to buy. Not terribly altruistic, I admit. But there you have it.

Ordering Spacelords . . .

A decent seeming chap named Doug will answer your questions and send you an invoice if you want anything. I expect he'd send a catalog as well.
