More Oldhammer Made to Order

see, this is the new part works we want to see.. not 'Age of Sigma' crap but do one where instead of a plastic sprue with 2 figures each issue, just give one metal mini from the past, like when they did metals on WD. And they are releasing this old sculpts again so do that! I don't know if the £9.99 an issue for only one metal mini but.. okay, how about this, 2 Metal minis each week. £9.99 an issue. All minis taken from up to 6ed. Okay, about a tenner for 2 figures isn't the best price in the world but how many partworks ARE the cheapest option? none of them.

but while they appear to be doing pretty well on the re-issues of old sculpts, they are also really jacking up the prices at times..

Still, nice to see ^_^

Not to bad. Hell, some Kids mags have more weight with some of the plastics being overboard (or in some cases, they do have metal). Limited auction would help with the limited casting amount, but then it's not much different then getting a model back into production as Metal. But yeah..

Well the unit of ten Boyz came in at £42.50, so £4.25 per model, which I guess is fair given most mini pricing. The Rock Lobber (Skull Crusher) at £42.50 feels a little too much for me, I was hoping we might be more like £35 for that especially given it appears to have plastic wheels rather than the original metal casts, that'll be a pass from me. I've less interest in the "classic" black orcs since I don't think of those as classic, I still think of them as the "new" black orcs, but they are priced at £4.40 so again seems reasonable. Well it's certainly a mystery as to how GW prices this stuff, I think a huge amount must just be a "what do we think we can get for it' approach! which I suppose to some extent is fair enough!

I'm going to ponder the ten orcs, there are some sculpts I rather like in the set and they more or less work alongside my older orcs. I may indulge.

I've got a lot of the classic ones primed and ready to paint, but the amount of detail on them keeps putting me off starting!

Just doing some research/writing and.. yeah, the prices are such a ripp-off these days.. I mean, they used to sell a Chaos Ogre for £1.50, a Chaos Dwarf for 60p, a Dwarf with Robot for £1.50 and a pack of 4 Goblin Fanatics for £1.95! and now they change £5 for a Dwarf? what is the world coming to ^_^;

The D3 Chaos Dwarfs were £1.95 for 4 when released in WD86 (February 1987). Running that price through The Bank of England inflation calculator, we end up with £5.69 in January this year.

slight mistake though... the Chaos Dwarf in question.. was listed as a D4 Chaos Dwarf, but was in fact a D3 Chaos Dwarf, and this was WD 83, but the first appearance of that Chaos Dwarf Range (originally C06) was White Dwarf 78, June 1986.
released at a price of £1.50 for 3. (so 50p each). Interesting price changes there.. 50p each in mid 1986, by november(ish) 60p each, then in Feb of 87 it was now 48(ish)p each..

so.. If we follow that price curve.. They should be... erm.. 5p each now? ^_^
