Thought I would start a thread to show what I am currently working on.

It is likely to be 90% orcs and goblins..

Just recently my D&D DM gave us all a mini for our campaign and I decided to dust off the paints and brushes and paint that single mini. It has triggered some activity and I started to finish off a few minis that needed basing and a few other details.

This man mangler was one of them, and it just looked a bit lack lustre so I spent some time to re-do the timber and push a few of the highlights. Here it is thus far painted in my usual fashion. Neither retro or modern. Still some more to go before its finished and based. And then I can paint the team that works it.

Also still trying to improve my mini photography as well. Be nice to create some scenery as a backdrop for my photos; Another fun aspect of this hobby.

I like the looks of that. Clearly well-used and without a doubt lovingly kept by its crew. May it keep mangling even more men in the future. :)

You're just going to leave us with that and not show the mini? Come on now...

No complaints from me on that front! The kite shields on the Man-mangler are a nice touch, I've not seen one before done like that and I rather like it - might have to pinch that idea for when I eventually get some paint on one.

A few of us have some of the backdrop books from Joh Hodgson / Handiwork Games which are quite nice as backdrops. Then there are some awesome paintings some members have done which have been awesome to see. Photography looks pretty decent. I sometimes use a couple of small fill lights when doing my photographs. There are loads of small battery powered LED photography lights generally with controllable temperature available these days for not crazy money.

Well, the mini that my D&D DM gave me did not end up looking so good really. Not my finest hour. Was feeling a bit rusty after a year of not painting. I will have to go over that again I think.

Ah, the kite shield idea was that they were taken from beaten opponents and hung out to taunt the survivors. I did want to add some heraldry to the round shields but I save that for later

Actually just discovered the box for the man mangler. Would be nice to have a pic of that as well I think so here it is. Amazing work on the shield and base. I wonder who painted the cover model?

Oh according to Stuff of Legends it was Kev Adams himself that sculpted and painted this model

Painted it definitely. Sculpted the faces on the shields and the shrooms, absolutely. Not sure about the rest of it, I thought it was his painting on these that got him the job at Citadel. Could be mistaken.

Has anyone worked out what the design on the kite shields is meant to be? I have several but even painted I can't make it out. Some kind of dragon?

I thought it was the painting of the Tom Meier half-orc: http://eldritchepistles.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-kev-adams-collection-part-1.html
