Beautiful work, everyone!
Seconding earlier comments on scratch-building, um, buildings, railway modeling is a rich seam! Look up Allan Downes: his work is astonishing, and his writing was good to boot. He had three books of plans, handily named 'Downesplans' for model buildings: most of the plans for 4mm to 1 foot scale, though easily scaled up for 28mm: I use 5mm to 1 foot scale for my miniatures. Two of the Downesplans books are of railway buildings so of limited use but one volume was of country buildings and has a fantastic barn in it- currently third in my project queue!
Also look up Dave and Shirley Rowe: genius! And if ever in the area, the Pendon Museum at Long Wittenham is on another level.
One point of caution, some model railway scratch-building materials are fine for model-railway usage, but not for tabletop gaming's rough handling and flying dice!
