Mixing Green Stuff

Does anyone have any recommendations for getting a good mix on Green Stuff. It doesn't seem to matter how much or how long I mix it, I always seem to get some bits that just didn't mix right. So when I'm molding and sculpting I have to pick them out, maybe it's something everyone gets, but I'd like to check.
Recently I've taken to mixing, then rolling as flat as I can and then re-balling it up. It seems to catch the bigger bits but I'm still getting occasional small bits when I start sculpting.

I get that, I THINK it is from bits that are touching on the strip.
When I do use it I tend to cut bits from the edge of the strip.
I also get each single colour and roll it into a long snake and then twist the 2 colours together, this seems to help mix it better.
Then I cut that in half, and roll each half into a long snake and then repeat.

often, with the normal strip, remove the little bit in the middle where the two colours mix as they can start to go off at that point. well, going off isn't right.. they are contact dry so it starts to dry where the two mix in the middle. They are most often the bits which don't quite mix right cause really, the way they are stripped together is kinda stupid, as you are storing a contact setting material with the two parts in contact.. so of course they are gonna start to set.

the longer it's stored, the more it'll start to set long that centre bit

This. I only ever cut off a mm or two from the end of the ribbon then I pinch out the joined bit and discard it - which is often a little cured and then fold and twist to mix.

However if you already have yours separated and have disposed of the cured middle I guess bad batch is the only other likely culprit.

Storage wise if you have a reasonable amount and you know it will take time to get through then sealed up in little ziplock bags in the freezer seems to keep it for years. Other stuff I've just had sat in the general pile has become less pliant over time, but defrost some from the freezer and it's like new! So I just cut a strip into ~3" bits, freeze it and get a new piece out when I need some (obviously needs to defrost..)
