Metal Rhino hatches?

Idly being bad and looking at ebay and noticed an auction for a couple of Rhinos (along with the older "three kits box"), however the interesting thing was the metal rhino hatches shown on the models. Not something I think I've ever seen before. Was that a standard feature when the kits were first released? All my Rhinos came from the later "one kit one box" era and I don't remember seeing anything like that in White Dwarf, but then again it was some time back now so memory and all..

they are not original to that box set.. I'm pretty sure about that.. the original RTB4 came with 3 rhinos, all plastic..

mm.. it's not 100% right but.. the Immolator had Metal hatches which are close to that. I'm very much of the idea that those metal hatches are from a Rhino -upgrade.. It's not the Razorback.. nor predator or predator annihilator, Vindicator or whirlwind..
 
Thank you. So those are actually just half the hatch, with that central bump being to locate the marine torso.
