MDF Bases And Tiles etc.

Do you guys have much use for MDF?

I use MDF shapes for terrain bases, such as basing fences, areas of rough terrain, and buildings etc, do you use MDF much?

When I first had access to a laser cutter I got excited and based everything with MDF. These days I mainly use it for scenery bases and sometimes cores for buildings.

Some mini bases (2 & 3mm thickness), more often when the mini has an integrated base already and I just want to "round it out" so to speak. I was going to use some 30x60 pill bases for my Beasts of Nurgle, but when I got them they looked wrong and I opted for 40x60 conventional (although PLA printed) bases. I used MDF pill bases for my Squat bikes and they looked right, whilst I think a thicker conventional base would have looked wrong.

Some pieces of terrain, I've a handful of random blob MDF shapes that I'm slowly using up on scatter terrain, most of my graveyard scatter terrain is on MDF. For larger pieces I tend to use foamed PVC sheet now and with resin where I just need to tidy up the edge I'll use plasticard to avoid adding any real thickness.

So not much overall (I would still love a laser cutter however, to cut, err stuff)

I use MDF a bit but I only have a Diode Laser cutter, so while it CAN do MDF.. I mostly use plywood ^_^. Okay for some buildings and stuff, Movement trays, basing bigger stuff and scenery But also for making card trays an boxes. Also a couple of Miniature games, I cut some figure boxes so they can store the figures well when there is a limited number (like a miniature board games)

Was my basing material of choice for many years, but switched a couple years back to ePVC. As I use metal bases, I hardly use any mdf at all by now.
