Mason's RT 'Bands'- The rest of the Pirate Crew

Mason

Vassal
I thought that I would start a thread over here where I can post the 'bands' once they are finished.

First up are the Iron Claw Space Pirates.

I finally got around to finishing these this morning.
A great set of figures by the talented Bob Olley.
I love his take on them.

There are a couple of other figures in this mix, but I thought they would work well to add a little variety to the 'Ship's Crew'

It has taken a long time to get back to these, having started them a few months ago and then left them to gather dust.
I sort of lost the mojo and then could not get them the way that I originally saw them, so almost started again with the colour scheme.
I persevered in the end and think that I got away with it.

I certainly wont be painting twenty figures at the same time again in a hurry, though!
Not recommended.....

Here is the final result, with varying degrees of success.
Some I am happy with and others less so.

Glad to call them done for now, though.
I can always go back and tart them up a little if I want to......

Re: Mason's Rogue Trader 'Bands'

It's funny, those Bob Olley sculpts don't look too crash hot in bare metal, but once their painted their awesome!

There's a certain man on this forum with no arse that would love the look of these too

Well done.

Re: Mason's Rogue Trader 'Bands'

Colour scheme really works well with the red, dark brown and dark green. The one at the back far left looks interesting. Is that some kind of psychic glow?

Re: Mason's Rogue Trader 'Bands'

Thanks, fellas.
Much appreciated.
:)

I love the way that Mr O sculpts, so many little details and textures.
I have one of his Squats to add to this band and feel the need to convert one of his Orcs to a 40k version too now....

He is meant to be the psyker of the group.
The white effect is supposed to represent the light emanating from his staff, kind of like OSL but plain white/green.
Not sure if it really worked but I am not messing around with him any more now.

Here he is with a few figures that are not from the IC range, but that I thought would work well with the group....

The servitor is an Olley sculpt, so he fits in just fine.
Not sure who sculpted the 'Imperial Psyker' but he fits in as my ships navigator and the RT Inquisitor figure is the Rogue Trader/Ship's Captain, Mr Biffta.

Re: Mason's finished RT 'Bands'- Iron Claw Space Pirates

The psyker is a Bob Olley sculpt too. And Mr Biffta is just grand. I've got one myself, I just need to replace his missing chainsword.

All in all a great looking crew Mason!

Re: Mason's finished RT 'Bands'- Iron Claw Space Pirates

Oh Mason, you made me get back to my Iron claw mutants but now I feel an urge to get to the pirates as well... You really made them look natural and easy to "read" which is not always an easy feat with this range.
Wonderful job,

Just about the OSL, to be honest, it doesn't look like light from the staff... BUT before reading and when I first saw it I thought "God ! this psyker is teleporting as we speak, what a cool way to represent that" so I'd keep it that way,

Cheers!
I had my suspicions with the psyker, nice to hear them confirmed.

Thank you, sir.
You are, of course, correct about the 'teleporting' effect.
That is exactly what I meant to type, no idea why I said any different...... ;)

The pictures of the rest of the crew...

Not the greatest paint jobs ever but I am happy enough with them especially as they were all painted at once.
