Latest 3rd ed Bretonnian Pictures

Hi all,

Not to be outdone by Blues' recent herohammer bretonnian knight piccys - I thought I would share today's photography which includes 3 of my 4 units of mounted bretonnians and the army's mercenary giant. Some of the figures have already been posted on the forum, but they were only photographed with a phone against a white piece of paper. I have been experimenting with different photography set-ups and I think I have found one I like. I hope you like the pictures.

I've also painted:
20 Retainers with double handed weapon
20 Retainers with crossbow
Mortar
Organ Gun
30 Peasant levy
Wizard on foot
Hero on foot
...but ill be photographing these when the rest of the army is finished in about 6 months. To see the full army assembled (without giant, 6 ogres, war altar or baggage), look at my previous posts ( http://forum.oldhammer.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=4627&p=51577#p51577 ).

Ah, now these are nice

The wizard holding the Eye Orb is great, I love the horse! Those metal Front Rank horses certainly are better than the GW plastic ones, good choice!

Cheers

Gary

Really inspiring work on these...your ability to paint heraldry is quite impressive. the units look great!

Are the unbarded horses also Front Rank?

Now that I am nearly complete with my 5th ed army I look forward to starting in on these 3rd ed guys myself...lots more character to work with on these IMO.

Cheers,

Blue

Thanks for the encouragement Chris,

Yes, the unbarded horses are front rank. I also have some front rank horses, oxen and carts as the basis of my baggage train.

Wonderful, I have never liked Brets but these are so nice I may have to reconsider my view point :)

An odd aspect to choose, perhaps, among all that loveliness, but the tinge of pink on the muzzle of the grey horses is a cracking little detail to include :ugeek:

Wow!

This army is very coloured and well painted.

Are they original citadel miniatures, all of them? I never seen but are very nice.

When I was a child, I've seen these shields in a comic shop in Barcelona ( shields with black boar ) but it was a regiment of dawrfs.

Regards.

Hi Widder,

All of the miniatures are original citadel (the giant and some of my peasants are marauder) miniatures except for the horses which are front rank as the scale, detail and weight are so much better for 3rd edition bretonnians.

...as for the transfers, I tend to use 80s and early 90s citadel ones and I sometimes paint over them but I mainly freehand copy them (this tends to be quicker than applying the decal and then repainting them to blend in.
