Just the Two of us?

ManicMan

Lord
This probably comes under modelling So it's here ^_^

Some regiments or more, skirmishers are in teams. The main ones I deal with are the Skaven Jezzial team and Warpfire thrower team.

Both are teams or 2 figures which almost only operate as a team. The Jezzail team CAN carry on when one is taken out, with some penalties, where the Warpfire Thrower is unable to work with only one.

In combat, even if the machine (they are classed as war machines) is unable to be used due to a slain figure, the other one is still a Skaven in combat. But the question comes, Do you base the two together as a team, and have to use a different figure if only one is them is still around (though with the Jezzail, it's quite easy to have them on their own bases) or do you keep the figures sperate so if one is removed, it's easy to just remove them.

So... Wondering which option people tend to go with. Having them on the same base makes it easier for movement as well as some do have connection points (of sorts) between the two figures, Or prefer to keep them separate for combat?

I know I could always make a little tray or something to keep the two bases together at times but when you have ones which kind have that connection point, it would be more likely to have a gap if not fused together...

That's what I used to do back in the day. Little custom movement trays for all the two man (rat, etc) teams. These days since I game less I'd probably put them on a single base and make it a bit more scenic if the models benefited from being based together (eg the war machine is split and basing together lets me improve the join etc). A wound marker can always be used to indicate the death of one I figure.

Not happening that often, but when the two figures get in hand-to-hand combat, I like to place them side by side, because both will fight.

This is easier when based on single bases. You could turn a combined base sideways, but who fights to his side...? ;)

So for me the extra hassle in moving them sets off the nicer picture in combat. Not that such crew love long in combat, anyways ...

Somewhat inconsistently my warpfire throwers are on cavalry bases, my jezzails individually based. Maybe because (as you pointed out) the jezzails can still fire as one model, but more likely cos they're a PITA to mount on cavalry bases.
