JP's Oldhammer Workshop

With all this talk of the forum not being the hip funky go-to place that all the cats are swinging their Fimir in (sorry - been writing a new horror script with a 70's disco vibe to it - the last one had an 80's dance sequence partway through LOL) I figured I'd get a jump on 2015 and create a single thread where I would post all my Oldhammer funstuff that I partake in during 2015 and beyond - as opposed to having seperate threads for all my different projects.

So in 2015 I'll be aiming to achieve the following:

  • 1. Paint up the entire box set of Heroquest
    2. Play lots of Heroquest games
    3. Play lots of Chainsaw Warrior
    4. Play lots of Blood Bowl 1st Edition
    5. Source and collect Death Zone supplement for Blood Bowl 1st Edition
    6. Collect, paint and game with Halfling Team and Orc Team for Blood Bowl
    7. Source and collect Space Hulk 1st Edition and all its expansions (Genestealer / Deathwing / Campaign book)
    8. Source and collect Realm Of Chaos: The Lost And The Damned hardback

I'll also be adding to my new paint system as I'm now using what would have been the original paints back from when Citadel first released them. I currently have the Colour Paint Set paints (thanks to Coat d'Arms) and will be getting the equivalent of the Monster paint set in January.

In the meantime here's what I was able to do with just the nine colours from the Colour Set:

And here's what I was able to collect games/rules wise in 2014

Add to that Heroquest box set btw...

So here's to an exciting new year. Wishing you all the best.

I'll try and update my blog regularly - aiming for twice a month to begin with but will try and do more.

All the best

Bit of a sad start to the new year in that I'm having to sell my Oldhammer hardbacks to fund car repairs, but I'm looking forward to getting some painting done today. Looking at getting the Dwarf or Elf painted for Heroquest, followed by a game of Chainsaw Warrior and then later tonight I a little narrating as my fiancee delves into the Forest Of Doom.

Sounds slightly wrong (or right depending on your point of view) but is in fact the start of our Fighting Fantasy adventures where one of us narrates the book for the other who fights their way through it.

So here's to a slightly damp start to the new year, but wishing you all the best.

That's a great set of goals for next year.
Although I have to say a couple of games of 1st edition blood bowl and you will be crawling back to later editions begging to be forgiven.
I have to agree that is the best thing I have seen done with a Heroquest base ... brillliant!

Been a while since I posted anything here, so let's get that corrected right now!

Hobby time has been a bit limited as I've been gearing up towards starting a new job on Monday, but I've made a little more progress by organising all the models:

As you can see from the pic, there is a large gap where once stood my hardback Rogue Trader, WFB 3rd edition, WFRP and Slaves To Darkness rulebooks. The good news is I have some feelers out and hope to be able to start re-acquiring those inspiring tomes over the coming months.

And in the meantime I have my Heroquest project to continue with. I've managed to paint up the Elf again just using the basic colours you see above (the equivalent of the Colour Paint Set) but have left several areas black as I want to paint those in leather tones, and that means buying the paints from the Creature Paint set. Luckily I have a 10% off voucher for Hasslefree (who sell the Coat d'Arms paints) so should be able to bulk buy these this weekend (thanks to a small repayment from Mr Tax Man).

(Good God his nose is HUGE! ) He needs a little neatening up as well, but I'm still pretty happy with the result. I'll be leaving his base either blank or black for now for reasons which will become apparent later.

As for the rest of my Heroquest project - well this has taken on a new turn thanks to a certain blogger who showed off his 3D dungeon tiles made from Hirst Arts blocks. I'll post a link to his awesome work when I can find it again. Needless to say I've hit the Hirst Arts site and researched what I need to create my own dungeon and am now planning this immense project.

But it doesn't stop there...but you'll have to read about what else I have planned over on my blog. I know, what a tease right?

Today I plan to have a game of Heroquest, trying out some solo rules as well as character development.

Cheers
JP

So these arrived yesterday from Parrskool

I was only expecting the 1st edition set to arrive so was extremely shocked to find a complete 2nd edition as well. I'll be making a point of calling out Parrskool in the trade feedback thread as he very generously sent these before I could pay (waiting for a painting commission payment to clear), thus showcasing the brilliant community we have in the Oldhammer world.

I've also ordered the rest of the paints I need to complete my Citadel Paint Set collection by Coat d'Arms. I wrote a missive about that on my blog if you'd like to check that out.

I'm now getting everything organised for my three projects: Dungeon Crawl (Heroquest/Advanced Heroquest/Warhammer Quest); Blood Bowl and Space Hulk. I'll be using Hirst Arts blocks to create 3D boards for each project. Getting the materials is some time away, so in the meantime it's getting the models painted up. I'll be using Black Scorpion models for the Orc team and probably will be getting a chaos team too from them - hello, Nurgle!

So that's what I've been up to lately. Just thought you should know.
