Is it worth me recasting my female Space Elf trader?

Should the female trader be recast?

A question for you folks. Back in 2011, Bob Naismith sculpted me a female Space Elf trader for what was then my local gaming club (now disbanded). We ran a campaign weekend and had 50 copies cast. Everyone there (~20 folks) got a copy, and the rest we sold far and wide to anyone interested.

The figure was based on my original concept sketch and happily looks pretty good next to the male Citadel Eldar trader (almost like it was planned!).

Recently one or two folks have asked be about the figure; I don't think I've got any left, but I could look at trying to get more cast up. This would either be with the original caster (assuming they're still in business and still have the mould), or may necessitate a remould and recast (assuming I still have an undamaged green).

So a quick poll then to see whether it's worth looking into!

I have it so I won't vote but t is definitely a good model with plenty of possible uses.
I could be tempted to vote "no it's a limited edition thing" but if I was the one missing it, I would want it released again so I hope you guys show enough interest in it ;)

Painting is programmed after I've finished my eldar leader (In progress and about 50% finished).

I've got one also, so I won't vote either, but I must admit, I tend to disagree in principle with the concept of 'limited edition' figures.

Foundry were f*cking awful for it, and I never could understand why, even when I was there. They'd always be getting requests for figures that there were production moulds for, and they even had in stock, but weren't allowed to sell. Just makes for unhappy customers in my mind.

If there's a market for it, and you don't mind dealing with people, go for it!

Dunno if I'm with you - I quite like limited edition stuff :)

That said, this one was only limited by virtue of me not wanting to manufacture, stock & promote a figure. 50 copies gave me the best compromise of cost (per model) and not being stuck with 100s to shift to recoup the investment. That said, if I can spin the mould with a guarantee of 20-30 sales for folks, it's worth looking at.

I'm not sure whether people bought from the original run because of limited edition, or just because it was a cool model to use in their games :)

I like to have the limited edition miniatures. But knowing things are limited generally stress me out. Sometimes I end up buying stuff I can't efford because I don't want to miss out or I buy things I don't need, so I am sure I won't be missing it for a future project.

So I prefer things to be available whenever I need/want it and when I have the money too.

I would love to have one of those models and would happily pay £5 if thats what it takes (plus shipping bringing it very close to €10 I guess), but would rather that it was slightly cheaper than that. In fact, I think that you should make a full range of 40K civilian types axiom. Ill sign up right now ;)

"Limited Edition" is a load of bollocks in my opinion. It just a way to jack up prices, boost ridiculous secondary market prices and annoy and potentially put off customers. As a sales strategy it works of course and to my shame I am not immune to its effects. I can tell you however that the companies that I spend most of my money with are the guys who offer good value via some means though, rather than try to make me feel like Eric Cartman.

Since I already own this one, I would be more interested in your "Female Eldar Banshee" sculpt. If you could make that one available, I would buy that it instantly!

Perhaps...I guess never say never. I guess there would be less Oldhammer interest, but I may wrong ;)

Hear hear! Limited edition can blow my hairy arse.

I have one. While not exactly surplus to needs, I'd prefer if you got it and painted it up. If it's not put back into production you can have mine. =) Don't want to cheat Jon out of potential punters in his own thread!

I didn't vote. Just release it already. =)

Nice one Mattias. We have a deal of some sort in that case.

I will buy from Jon in preference obviously, have to encourage this sort of thing after all. I will also buy that Banshee if it is made available, definitely.

My comment above was to the Eldar Trader. I have no need for the Banshee at the moment, butmight consider buying it too, if the price was right.

That banshee is awesome, get them both cast up! Just do a whole range of not-eldar and I'll buy the shit out of it.
