How Many Points For WFB 3rd Edition

What sort of points do you use for games?

1000 points seems terribly sensible to have, you can dabble at all flavours and still get a mix.
Back in the day we did 2500 but now, less time for all that playing and painting.

1000 should get you a small cavalry unit, a wizard, a war machine, a hero and a couple of regular infantry; maybe a melee and a ranged unit I reckon.
Seems a great way to get a multi-purpose Stillmania approved army.

Not very great at anything but good for feels.

I've stuck to 1500 for all games regardless of edition, 1k to me feels a bit small and 2k can start to drag depending on opponent or lists used. In the middle gets you some of the flavour without going too crazy.

I don't mind a massive game now and then, but I'd rather have a bit of notice for that and not just get to my mates to find out were playing a 4way slaughter.

long time since I have played and stuff but... 2k worth of ratties... that's alot of ratties.. points costs were mostly raised for Skaven in 4th and that works out to still being a nice sized force, so for the cheaper 3rd, 1500 does sound like a nice square number

Tend to do 3k but it depends on the forces. If it’s Dwarfs with loads of points in artillery 3k is fine. Skaven are harder as it’s an awful lot to move about and you struggle for deployment space. That said it tends not to matter once dwarf cannons have started causing casualties and the skaven run away…..

If I am playing a new player or my youngest son we stick at 2k points as it keeps it a bit simpler but allows some magic and cooler units.

We tend to do 3K points...or more if we've the time but limit things like magic, artillery and magic items as these slow things down/spoil the fun (eg two cavalry armies got totally screwed when both sides had wizards with Stampede, with magic points to burn...)
