How do you like your mutants?

I suppose this goes along with the earlier thread about warband composition, but how do you chaos players deal with mutations in your forces? Do you award the mutation that goes with the model's appearance, or roll for it and then try and model it? Do you do this differently for small RoC warbands and larger forces/armies?

C'mon now, don't be shy; interested folks want to know! (Well, I do, anyway :ugeek: )

How do i like my mutants?... Naked!

I roll the Warband then look for suitable figures in my collection or Ebay.. mostly ebay hehehe

I think your friend might be on to something, there. I'm not sure I'd chop up something I'd scoured ebay for, or carefully swapped. For conversions I'd been thinking of picking up some of the current releases of early Copplestone Grenadier barbarians and then lopping off heads, arms and legs with gay abandon

Those Tzeentch thug conversions with the hawk heads are nagging at em to have a go myself

I always used to roll up mutations and convert the fig.
Mind you, I only bothered to do this with warband champions. The rest of my miniatures were converted with tentacles, eyestalks, etc, for cosmetic effect and we never bothered to reflect mutations in the stats for rank & file because it simply got too much to keep up with.
The champion was a different case because the whole point of engaging in battle as far as he is concerned was his quest for Daemonhood and so his mutations were as important to keep up with as his gifts from the chaos patrons. Converting the fig appropriately was part of the fun of the hobby. I still remember rolling up "crossbreed with Beast of Nurgle" with a shock, since my champion was looking pretty cool. In that case, I simply replaced the fig with another!
