Helicopters in WH40K

Just remembered coming across an article in Space Gamer 87, with some rules for Hellicopters in WH40K. It's kind of interesting that they were left out, up to main arena WW2 tech.

There's also an interesting article converting WH40K to Critter Commandos (whatever that is!) with some really nice 40k cartoons - not something we get to see very often:

Interesting, but the rules are a little too complicated for my taste. Note, Space Marine did have Squat Gyrocopters. In the skirmish game (RT and 40k 2e) the role of helicopter was largely taken up by skimmers (like the land speeders or jetbikes which both Imperial Guard and Space Marines could use). These could make "pop-up attacks" by ascending vertically to peak over hills or buildings and make a quick attack before dropping down again to safety. Really interesting find, in any case!

You're right Galadrin, it's probably more of historical interest rather than something I'd game with either. Might be fun to try it out tho.

From memory Critter Commandos is a skirmish game between war bands of anthropomorphic sci fi warriors... After a bit of searching it looks like my kind of game!
