Harry gets ready for Halloween

Harry

Baron
So with "The night of the Living Lead" at the end of the month I thought I would start painting up some bits and bobs ...

Starting with these wonderful themed bases from Titan Forge.

I thought we might use them as objectives markers.

Hope you like them.

I LOVE THEM!

I also really like your distinctive painting style, and it certainly suits little quirky models like this. So, what other horrors do you have in store.

Thanks.

Other stuff includes:
Some treasure piles and chests to go with these.
Some graves and other spooky scenery.
Some necromancers,
Some more marauder skellies: (You can never have too many! :grin: )

Are I going to have to arrange for your food and drinks to be spiked with ambien so you'll quite making me feel lazy with your insane rate of painting? :grin: On a side note, these are looking good, and I can't wait to see those bones scenery painted up!

Nice work Harry!
I really like the skellies especially.
I have one of those Reaper banshees on my paint desk rroght now, I am curious to see what you do with yours.
:grin:

170 views and only three replies ... clearly folks here are not pumpkin lovers? :grin:

@Ardyer
Apologies ... not trying to make you feel bad .... just trying to get some of this stuff painted.

@Karak Norn Clansman
Great to see you here.
Thanks for the support.
My collection diversified a lot when GW stopped making metal minis ... it made me start looking around and I found a bunch of other companies making nice bits and bobs.

@aggro
They won't look much different than they do now ... just painted shades of grey rather than natural shadows. :grin:

I have read in some places that the Reaper Bones stuff can be hard to paint. Have you had any problems with them Harry? The more I see of them the more I regret not getting on on the first Kickstarter.

So next up Graves .... got to have some graves ... right?

Can't remember the manufacturer???

No ... hard to clean up mould lines as they don't scrape or sand you have to trim it off with a very sharp knife but seems to take paint just fine.
They say you can paint it straight out of the packet without undercoat ... but I have washed it in soapy water and undercoated it ... old habits and all that.
No problems at all so far. You can drop it and it bounces, bend it and the paint still stays on.
I have some spares if there is anything you missed that you really wanted.

Thanks for all the encouragement. Jeez unless it has enough lead in it to be on a church roof you lot just don't want to know do you. :grin:

Maybe someone will help me with this ...
I have been painting up this ... It is part of the Garden of Morr set.
I want to do verdegris on the statue.
Anyone done this successfully?
What citadel colour should I try?

Not sure about the new colours but I always use a watered hawk turquoise for mine..

I get lost on the new colours they seem to change ranges faster than my paints run out...

Those bits from titan forge - what did you think of the quality of casting?, I recently got some of their zomblins and whilst the detail was excellent the was an awfull lot of miscast areas, I have never worked with resin before so not sure if this is the norm... ;)

They look real good by the way :)

And I am waiting for mine to arrive! Was very tempted by those Titan Forge bases before I found an alternative. How are they in the resin? The Titan Forge figures all look pretty nice in the ebay photos but would be good to hear the opinion of someone who's actually bought some.

I don't have any pictures, but I've had success watering down Vallejo's Dark Blue Grey. It's a pale blue colour, much less green than the verdigris effect the GW studio go for. Before Vallejo I mixed Citadel Astronomican Grey and Hawk Turqouise for a similar effect. I don't know what those paints are called with the latest Citadel rebrand, now. I think it's a nice effect!

The trick to verdegris is to use lots of thin layers of different turquoise and aqua type colors. Not only do you wasn't the color, but you want the texture that it creates too.
