Grav Tank

Hello again,

I'm wondering if anyone has an authentic parts list for the old, deodorant Grav Tank. I'd like to be as accurate as possible when I attempt to make this, does anyone know exactly what bits were used (what kits they originally came from)? Zoids, maybe?

yeah, tripple barrelled shock cannon can be found on any of the Sabre/Zaber types (Sabre Tiger, Zaber Fang/Saber Fang, Great Sabre, Zabre etc) also used with the redhorn range (Red horn, Green horn Dark Horn), the Dimetrodon range (Dimetrodon, SpineFin).. I could go on for too long as many of the weapon sprues were shared, and stuff..

Oh, added photo to article.

Nice! Might be cool to have a Zoids section - there's that Slitherzoid conversion in the same WD and Tony Cotterells Scout Titan that uses Red Scavenger. IIRC there is a colour photo of a game being played (in the GW design studio?) with a Zoids poster in the background - but I can't find it for the life of me.

mm.. pass.. but since you got a fair amount of spare parts and they were model kits which were great fun (since they mostly have motors) and designed to allow customizing, it doesn't suprise me ^_^

I have noticed a few photos where they show some zoid boxes and say about some parts, in fact one model they make is pretty much just a molga (original english release as 'Zlitherrzoid' with minor tweaks and a different tail).. Ah, they call it the Ground Hog, but all the have done is really stick the end of the tail againsts the main body to greatly shorten it, and repaint. I think they removed the motor though.. it was a wind-up one and that dosn't have it.

seems rather contrary to the spirit of the thing.

Agreed. To go from "hey look kitbash your 40k from whatever you want" to "I must use only exactly the materials they show me in this specific edition of White Dwarf " does seem to miss the point.

But then Zoids are cool and its an excuse to talk about them in the context of 40k. From a design point of view, looking at Zoids, Star Wars, Robotech / Battletech, GI Joe / Action Force as influences on Rogue Trader model design and art is just as valid as 2000ad / Foundation / Dune on the background side, imho

On a personal note I was at the Games Day 87 launch of Rogue Trader and there was a demo game table set up with loads of Zoids including Zoidzilla (altough I have no recollection of what rules they were actually using), but it did impress me and my mates enough to try rolling dice to determine zoid combat rather than winding the motors up and having them fight sumo style, and my Orks ended up with a kitbased half Airfix half Zoid cyborg dinosaur to shepherd around the tabletop.

Always thought Stegatank was Great Gorgon (aka Gordos), because it's literally a Stegasaurus-Tank.

While my zoids collection is FAR from complete, I have, a Gordos and Gojulas (Zoidzillia). There are a couple I very much have interest in getting but the price... yikes.

and yeah, if kitbashing to the very piece then a bit against the spirit BUT if want to make a repro of a kitbashed one.. tricky.. Is trying to get the right slot machine button for an Alien airlock door (why do you think the airlock has a 'Hold' button)
