Following on from the BOYL2023 weekend, I thought I show my collection of trolls I used to worry the players involved in the game I was GMing with on Saturday, They only came into contact with players once they'd been attacked, or a member of the clan killed (lesson to be learned here - if, a big scary NPC isn't scheduled by the GM to attack you, maybe it's a good idea not to attack it).
Why have so many trolls you may ask - they suffer from stupidity and thus a liabilty on the tabletop, my response yeah, but you have to remember some of these Fantasy Tribe Trolls (1-6) were designed by Tom Meier, one of my fravorite designers from those early days of Citadel, the others by the Perrys and have bags of character and as for the stupidity - in third edition you test against cool, not intelligence and with their special rules - regeneration (At the end of the turn, any troll which has been slain that turn, or which has suffered 1 or more wounds, may attempt to regenerate. Roll a D6. If the score is 4,5,6 regeneration is succuessful and all wounds suffered are recovered), Regurgitate (This causes 1 strength 5 attack, but hit's automatically and discounts all armour (even magical). Any victim sustaining damage receives D3 wounds) and thump ( A single, well placed blow against a single enemy in base to base contact. The thump is made with with a +2 increase in weapon skill and with a +2 to strength. The armour save modifer is -3 and damaging blows cause D3 wounds. What's not to like?
Enjoy
