Gareth the Grot Paints Some Vintage Lead

I've finally kick-started my Oldhammer project, using Matakishi's 'Crom' rules (see my blog for more info regarding this). Here's what I've painted since Christmas:

Nice! The blue haired dwarf is a cool departure from the usual red. Haven't seen figures finished with gloss for some time ;)

So much character in your paintjob on these 3 I'm nearly forgetting the gloss finish ...

Serisouly, these are great and refreshing. It's so good to forget what's been done before to concentrate on the sculpt and you did just that. Congrats.

Nice work. I am liking the mage in particular, he's a neat model.

Are you running with hex bases for all of them? I would love to base my troops on something bigger like Dave King manages but then I think IF I ever play warhammer again I will want to rank the buggers up. In the end I tend to base on the 20mm and 25mm but I don't really want to.

As these are purely for skirmishing I'm going to stick to hexes. I've also bought a load of 50mm hex bases from Warbases (support!!!) for monsters and cavalry so there's no turning back now! I'm going to start work on a C20 Cave Troll soon...

Lovely characterful paintjobs. The orcs look suitably grimm.

The gloss varnish really ruins them in my opinion though...

Nice job on the Aygar Mistlethaine, Gareth! Liked the back too (on your blog), turned out much neater than my attempt. Easier on the eyes too!

I'm VERY keen on the campaign rules you're making for Crom. I'm close to convincing cousins #2 and #3 (heh, my main source of gaming buddies) to abandon competitive gaming (WHFB and warmahordes) and join me and cousin #1 in the fun of adventure gaming! Even slipped one of them a beat up and wrinkled copy of Crom for their perusal.

Things have been a bit quiet for me of late in terms of painting vintage lead, but here's what I've managed over the last few weeks. As usual more details and pictures are on my blog.
