From the glass cabinet...

Hi all,

New to this forum but a veteran of the hobby (aren't we all). The mainstay of my collection, being a painter and modeller more than a gamer, was, is and always will be dwarfs. However, I love seeing huge armies arrayed on the field (or on a shelf) in all their glory so I tend to have lots of side projects going, slowly building what I hope will end up as decent-sized armies in the end...
Always loved Skaven so I've started painting up old models I had at the bottom of my boxes (need more jezzail teams so get in touch if you have any to trade;):

The Skaven are meant to form an eventual part of a huge Nurgle army which will utilize both old and new models (mainly Forge World). So I'm going for a gritty, dark look for my Clan Pestilens models:

Up next will be Orcs and Goblins, methinks. Also an old favourite.

Those are just great! I really love the 3rd edition Skaven models and you've given them a great paintjob. :) I had a few packs of these when I was a kid but I just couldn't afford to build a Skaven army with my pocket money so I swapped them with a mate for more Dark Elves. I'd love to build a 3rd edition Skaven army nowadays but, again, it'd cost me an arm and a leg to manage that on ebay.

More pics please. :)

I guess it's appropriate I should also collect orcs and goblins, every dwarf's mortal enemy:

Have lots more greenskins to paint up, and need to get hold of some more wolf riders to fill out the ranks...

Really like the rats! Would like to see a bigger pic of the orcs, but I'm sure they're just as nice.

Now show us your Osrim or unit of janissaries. =D

Just might have to;)
The Skaven are fairly easy and fast to paint since I start with a black basecoat and paint dark colours up from that, in keeping with their filthy and malicious nature. So no need for excessive highlights and the shades are already there.
Still need some more jezzail teams though; they seem fairly popular on eBay :(

yup

they're pretty brutal if you want more than a few

poison wind globadiers are even worse

Some of my all-time faves are the Marauder Empire ogres, they're even better than most of the C23 Goodwin ones and that's saying something:

A bit closer:
