Legiocustodes
Vassal
Well I fought a battle a while back with my dedicated and patient other half but I forgot to put a post up about it. Again we are still learning the rules to second edition 40k so it was a fairly simple space marine on space marine battle with evenly matched forces drawn from what is commonly referred to as the black codex (this was the original set of army lists that came in the 1993 box set prior to the development of the codexes).
My girlfriend took command of the noble Crimson Fists whilst I led the vicious flesh tearers! This was a real treat for me as since building then I have rarely used the 28mm blood angels successors...though their 6mm Epic Counterparts do get to see some frequent action!
The terrain was a proper retro 1990s battle field with a green felt board, card buildings and old school greenery...I felt like a time machine had taken me back to 1995!! (I wish)
I tried to go for a nice mix of troops including assault marines; tactical marines and terminators - My girlfriend loves terminators for some reason!!
And there were some real cinematic moments including some hardcore butchery from the assault marines in the middle of the game!
Overall really enjoyable; and it has brought us a step closer to actually learning the rules...which is handy. There is a full report and additional pictures at:
