Fake Miniature Text

ManicMan

I don't like videos only for tutorials on somethings. I would prefer some decent photos and text with POSSIBLE video version..

anyway..

Got some text to paint in books. Not real text cause no way I can get it and down it that size, but what looks like text.. But I have never been happy with how I do it. any pointers?

or could use my inkjet water decal paper (how the hell does that stuff work ¬_¬.. well, I can think of some ideas but... still magic) but.. naw.. not a big fan of using decals when there is a way not to

ah, but that would be for text that was readable and all. but as I said, it's stuff that LOOKs like text. so basically the standard squiggles and stuff.. But I can just never get it looking that good at all ¬_¬

I've always opted for the squiggly line punctuated with gaps approach. So strictly indicative of text.

Decal wise I do have this bookmarked: https://www.forgottenchapters.eu/shop/scripts-and-tinny-letters/
I imagine there are others (a quick search just turned up https://www.etsy.com/market/28mm_waterslide_decals - which has some nice other transfers there including some quite nice shield designs) and it'll probably offer the best result if the surfaces are moderately flat, otherwise technical pens may well be your best bet, but I'd still just be squiggling!

When I've done it I've used a small brush fairly thinned black (last time I thinned with some black ink actually) and I guess more of a stippling / dotting motion more than anything "flowing", so think more morse code like! Going back over it tends to break it up a bit more and give a some more up/down to the marks. Trying now to think what it was last on - not spotting anything in my cabinets, but I certainly did something in the last few months, must be on some terrain or something - maybe it was on the privy in the woods?
