Dragon Ogre Shaggoth of Nurgle

I've always loved Ivan Bartleet's Dragon Ogre that was featured in the Lost and the Damned back in the day:

For some time I've wanted to create a more modern version using the excellent Shaggoth sculpt that GW released some years ago and make a more visibly Nurgle feel to the model. So I've recently been workingon this by doing some sculpting and adding a carrion bird, Nurgling, new weapon etc to the model. Here's my progress so far:

You can see the Nurgling residing in the Shaggoth's rotting gut (more to sculpt here) and the start of a new flail using a ballbearing, chain and some plastic spikes. The head has been sculpted to create a plagubearer like feel with one eye and a central horn.

Any suggestions or advice on how to finish this guy before I start the painting stage?

Much appreciated in advance.

That's superb!! Wooow!! If I was to suggest anything it would be regarding the bird pose, so it can look in more... 'anticipation', as being ready to fly out. Now it looks like in mid-flight to me. Maybe a little bending on the wings will do; I guess the neck is more complicated to work with.
Anyway, excellent work!

Very good point, I hadn't really considered the bird's pose. I'll see if I can mimic the original a bit more by raising the wings and lowering the neck slightly; much appreciated feedback.

Excellent dragon ogre, looks really convincing as a nurgle infested one !

Since you asked earlier, here's mine that has yet to see some paint :

Is that a carnosaur body, even so it looks great! I think the axe looks a bit too big though and not convinced of it's shape…

It is a carnosaur body indeed and yes the axe is worng, tis is an old conversion and with fresh eyes it doesn't work, It will probably be better with something a little more traditionnal I suppose ^^
