Re: Affinity Miniatures first complete green

It's a bit Ann Summers for my taste in minis.
To be honest, there's lots of minis out there that do they whole 'is it an female pirate/fighter/barbarian or a girl on a hen do' thing, being that I'm literally painting a C30 Amazon tonight, I was hoping for something more in line with those style wise.
It looks good, it's just not to my taste, I can't see it fitting with what look like little lead representations of tribal Joy De Vivres or Eve Libertines.

Re: Affinity Miniatures first complete green

This is just a Limited Edition figure to welcome to opening of Affinity Miniatures. The Amazon range will be more along the lines of what is well known and more traditionalist if you will.

Re: Affinity Miniatures first complete green

Chico, I think she looks very well done...but I'm not sure what the focus if this range will be...can you give us a bread description of the design direction of your co? If you've already done that and I've just missed it, then I'm sorry.

Re: Affinity Miniatures first complete green

Hey,

This is just a stand alone LE which will have no bearing on the ranges. But some quick info for you sexy peoples.

There will be 11 races/factions to be released and looked at in depth. Too start with the first 2 races to be released is Amazons and Conquistadors and is based in are own home grown Fantasy World of Elustrea.

People have had concerns about there being no credible female sculpts, but have no fear there will be a balance of the traditionalist/idealistic/Wishful look of the women spread though out certain Affinity ranges.

Re: Affinity Miniatures - New WIP Face

This one looks really great considering the scale but I think it has a somehow "comics" vibe if you see what I mean. The straight nose and flat lips make it very graphic and definitely gorgeous but I don't see this blending with other fantsy ranges. Now I've said that I realise there have been a lot of VERY different styles that still blend well when painted together (you can't mistake some Olley with some Goodwin or other sculptors) so hopefully they will be just fine, I just need to see more to tell.

Re: Affinity Miniatures - New WIP Face

Didn't know you were in the sculptin' game Chico! I like it, it will fit in nicely with my goth/punk Escher gang! ;)

It's good you like the face, I agree it's hard too tell much about it until it's placed on a Dolly and has hair and body.

Not sculpted by me but by Duke Of Earl for my joint owned miniature company Affinity Miniatures. And I'm glad you like it.

Re: Affinity Miniatures - New WIP Face

Really nice to see a healthy dose of these independent, small-scale minis companies popping up. :) Do you think there's anything we could do to support each other in our little hobby enterprises? I've counted at least five on this forum alone... it'd be nice to pull together and help each other out as an antidote to a certain trend towards competition and monopolising.

I see no problem with supporting others, MR Fimm I already link to your Oakbound games on my blog with a banner ad :)

And I will respond with a link to your company. I meant a bit more though. For example, if another company has minis I think would fit with my forthcoming games systems I'd like to be able to point punters to them rather than just selling my own. Similarly maybe we could share info about casting, suppliers, postage costs blah blah...

Re: Affinity Miniatures - New WIP Face

I'm all for that, a big brain pool learning from others mistakes :)

Re: Affinity Miniatures - New WIP Face

As a somewhat amateur sculptor I would like to keep in touch, too. I have sculpted and cast some Dwarfs independently (not on my website yet, yes that independent), but I won't hijack this thread with them. Maybe we could start a forum thread to talk all things indy sculpting... there's already a lot of interest with the Oldhammer project, and I think this community lends itself to this kind of approach.

Re: Affinity Miniatures - New WIP Face

I was also thinking about this. I'm starting up Bolt Thrower Miniatures, which should hopefully have its first releases later this year.

Definatly up for doing some cross promotions. When we all have some miniatures I was wondering whether an inter company battle could work.

Re: Affinity Miniatures - New WIP Face

I'd also be happy to sell other peoples sculpts though Affinity's soon to be website as a Stand alone/Alternative range, either by taking a small % of sales or buying full rights to the green.

Or if any anyone fancies honing there skills and having ago at sculpting for Affinity or Art Work then send me a PM. Payment at this moment at time will be more goodwill and getting you work known then cash.

Re: Affinity Miniatures - New WIP Face

As soon as you get the boobs sculpted, send me a cast (at my expense) and I'll gladly paint them for free for advertising purposes Chico ;).
I'm probably going to end up with some of them anyway, my RT gangs definitely need some feminity right now ;) there will be proper advertising in due time.

Re: Affinity Miniatures - New WIP Face

Heh I'll see what I can do Mr Ass, but sounds good :)

It should only be a few months before the first 3 sets are ready for sale (LE Ambassador/Admiral, 5 Amazons & 5 Conquistadors).

Re: Affinity Miniatures - New WIP Face

Exciting stuff - I'll definitely be looking out for those...

Keep us posted!
