Converting a mighty Fortress.

I've promised to bring at least a couple of sets of Mighty Fortress to BOYL14 and I've also promised to hack up bits of at least one set to make larger towers and breaches. I'll be detailing what I do on my blog but thought you may like to see pictures of the sacrilege here too.

Oh and I'm doing a breached section next. Smash, smash, smash...

Nooooo! You're hurting me!

I know your pain! I've regretted selling mine for the last 20 years (OMG! Not made that calculation before; feeling old now!). To see one cut up is horrible! However, it is for the cause! Stay strong Erny (although, 'Enry {from Paul's fumbling fingers} has a nice Cockney ring to it), hack away and produce wonders. :geek:

Even though I collected three for the purpose of cutting one up it has still taken me about six years to summon the courage to do it. It certainly helped that I'm doing it for a big game with all you lot.

Just wait till you see the breach I'm working on, I'm doing a happy dance just thinking about it.

I can't wait to see that Erny!

This is what I'm hoping for in my future too! I would one or two spare wall sections to work with...in addition to my full set from back in day for some siege games.

Anyone have spare walls?

So you just used plaster filler to fill the cracks?

What else do you use to fill in cracks on walls?

We have a whole aisle of different things to fill cracks in the wall, at the home improvement stores here in the USA

The mind boggles, what could be more effective than polyfilla?

Anyway I did promise a breached wall so here is the finished article:

(yes I need to paint the miniatures eyes properly)

I go through the steps on the blog here:

I also have an update on the keep, stairway to the entrance is marked out. I tried to copy the fortress stone work but have just realised I should have done larger square blocks on the corners but never mind. I did toy with the idea of making the stairs wide enough to stand a based mini upon but if a believable rise to the stair were maintained the length of the stairs would have been laughable.

Depends on the man, given the right tools, anybody is capable of anything they put their mind to.

That breach looks very effective but it must have taken that one guy a long time to do so much damage to the masonry with a cudgel ;)

That is a proper job, Erny. I particularly like the attention to detail with the rubble and loosefill that makes up the core of the wall. :ugeek:
