Citadel Time Capsule 1985

Last Friday my friend came round to play games and brought with him this, a Citadel Time Capsule, circa 1985...

I can see through the lid, a little bit. It looks like it contains wotsits that have been spray painted white. Wotsits and spray paint did exist in 1985, so yeah, I believe you.

It turned out to be a treasure trove. I don't know if the contents are particularly exciting to seasoned collectors but as a snapshot of GW in 1985 (which is the date on almost every tab) I think it's great. The story this tub of margarine tells is that of GW's eclectic and fannish output in the mid 80s. So, without further ado, I present the contents of the tub of 'Catering Spread'.

An armoured man at arms is passing himself off as a ninja. I'm surprised the ninjas, what with their honed perception and nimble moves, haven't noticed and set upon him as an imposter.

That's Ping (Sohei), one of the Orientals (I didn't know this, but I just found him on CCM).

As for time travellers, there were a couple of others in there, that looney slipped through the net! His hard shiny metal would have seen him thrown into the corner of shame but for the fact that he's a BB player and I like BB a lot!

I think your ??? crew are Eternal Champion Melbinoneans, and the barbarian with the hammer is Wulf - a 2000AD mutant bounty hunter.

It was a whole lot of fun opening the box I have to say. While my own version of this tub-of-delights disappeared at some point during the 90s this really brought back memories of poring over the pictures in White Dwarf and spending my pocket money in the Sheffield GW on an equally random selection of models.

Your wizards and familiars are from the Eternal Champion range, as is the chap with crossed arms & pistol in with the Dredd stuff.
