Citadel Orc Boar Riders

King Arthur

Vassal
Hi all,

Question regarding how many models were released?

This is the 1988 Catalogue which shows 15 models:

However, there's also this (images taken from this thread here viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2328 thanks Blue in VT:

There are differences, for example Sword 3 from the first image from Blue's topic is not present in the '88 Catalogue neither is Sword 5 from the second image from Blue's topic?

In the '88 Catalogue models 02, 07, 09 are not present in Blue's topic......

So if we add the two together there are 16 different Orc Boar Rider model releases right?

Cheers

Gary

The two images from Blue's post are from Citadel 1991 catalogue part 2. Here and here you can find better quality images.
Comparing the two catalogs I would say there are 18 different models:

1988 - 1991
01 <--> SPEAR
02 <--> ***
03 <--> SWORD1
04 <--> AXE1
05 <--> SWORD4
06 <--> HAMMER
07 <--> ***
08 <--> BOW
09 <--> ***
10 <--> CROSSBOW
11 <--> AXE2
12 <--> STANDARD BEARER
13 <--> ***
14 <--> SPEAR AND NET
15 <--> MORNING STAR
*** <--> SWORD2
*** <--> SWORD3
*** <--> SWORD5

I think SWORD5 is a variant of 07 and SWORD3 is a variant of SWORD2... probably there are other variations never listed in catalogs waiting for you on ebay!
As a side note, seems like in 1988 there were only 4 different boar models, while we have 10 models in 1991.

The American Catalog has a couple of extras - actually archers that were designed to be either foot or mounted:

Note the use of Citaldel boars and Marauder riders.

It would be interesting to catalogue all the boars - the originals came in two body parts and a separate head - the complete castings appear to have both 1985 & 1987 date stamps but I'm pretty sure the 3 part models predate the others despite the dates. The later castings appear to utilise the different heads originally sold in the three part models. Also note the goblin chariot 'extras' boars with the rope around their middles.

Several of the ones in that last picture are the marauder boar riders mixed in with some of the citadel ones.

I think the three part boar was the one that came with the Goblin king chariot....the one piece ones are from the boar riders and then there are the marauder ones as well.

Cheers,

Blue
