Chaos Thugs Rules

Yeah, they rule indeed...but what rules do you think I should use? Marauders from the warriors of chaos army book? Other? Any BS4 chaos unit?
I have a big bag of unsorted miniatures, mostly from Empire that I think I will use and paint nurgleish.

What edition are you using? As you refer to the chaos army book I assume not 2nd or 3rd, but for the latter they're the non-hero profile of chaos warriors (p227 in the Bestiary), with a profile as per that page you show (The Lost and the Damned at a guess if you're talking about Nurgle?). Only 6 points a piece though, rather than 7.86... :) In 2nd they're in Ravening Hordes with the same profile again, except this time 8.5 points. I'd guess the 2nd ed cost is the "correct" one, which rather nerdishly makes them the second exception I know if to standard points values in 3rd ed.

Your extract also shows them with somewhat more attributes than the rulebook, personally I'd go with the book unless everyone is playing chaos.

As you say pretty much any warrior type figure does well as a thug, preferably not to regimented but you don't need to go all 80s punk either.
 
Ah, sorry. I thinking of making units from Lost and the Damned but using rules from the current editions, painting them nurgleish and field them as a core, special or rare unit with my daemons.
 
Ah, I don't know modern editions at all but of those types I'd say that thugs, along with beastmen, were as close to a core unit as chaos armies get.
 
I use mine as regular marauders (hell with the BS4 !) Marauders from 3rd ed can play as warriors in 8th ed and warriors from 3rd ed will be chosen... That means no playing with stats and pirces and just play them as they come. You lack all ounted versions though...
I try to build armies that can be fought in any edition and that's my thoughts on them.
 
Yeah, I guess marauders will work fine. Have to take a closer look on their rules.
I think it would be a fun unit to paint, mixing up different miniatures, on the picture is a chaos dwarf and what looks like it a goblin/ork.
